St. Louis Open: Preview

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

For the second fall in a row, the PBR staff will head to GCS Credit Union Ballpark for an event. The St. Louis Open is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 12th. This event is open to all high school prospects from the 2020 through 2024 high school graduating classes. Currently, there are nearly 40 players planning on attending the event, from both Illinois and Missouri, with plenty of space still available to register.

There is still time to register for the event by CLICKING HERE. For a look at the most up-to-date roster, CLICK HERE.

When looking at the roster, LHP/OF Josh Dima (Belleville West, 2020) stands out. Dima is a highly-athletic, Illinois State commit, who may be destined for the mound at the next level but is interesting as an outfielder as well. Dima handles the barrel from the left-side of the plate and floats around the outfield.

An uncommitted prospect from Illinois to keep an eye out for should be MIF Evan Funkhouser (Edwardsville, 2021). Funkhouser is a fundamentally sound defender with soft, confident hands on the infield and continues to make strides with his right-handed swing.

When looking at Missouri, a name to know is Ayalew Sisay (Timberland, 2021). Sisay, ranked No. 18 in the Missouri 2021 class, is a versatile prospect with upside to his game and a strong arm.
