TJ Hunt named Director Of Scouting and Operations for New Jersey

Dan Cevette
Executive Director
New York - New Jersey

TJ Hunt is a product of Wyckoff, New Jersey and Ramapo High School, where he routinely excelled in baseball. During his high school career, Hunt earned many accolades, including 1st team All-League, All-Conference, All-County, and All-State. He was also named a finalist for North Jersey Player of the Year. Upon completion of his high school career, Hunt continued his playing career as a scholar-athlete at Division I, Monmouth University. He earned multiple Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, and was named 2nd Team All-Conference as a senior.

Hunt is in the top 10 in career wins and career complete games at Monmouth. As a senior, Hunt threw a No-Hitter and was awarded the ESPN Capital One Impact Performance player of the week as well as Louisville Slugger National Player of the week. Hunt’s No-Hitter was the second in Monmouth Baseball history, and the first since current Baltimore Orioles Brad Brach in 2007. After college, Hunt signed a contract to play professionally for the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League.

Hunt’s family lineage is firmly entrenched in New Jersey High School baseball. Starting with his grandfather, Jim Hunt who coached at Englewood and Tenafly high schools before being inducted into the Halls of Fame at both schools. Hunt’s grandfather was also an integral part of organizing the Bergen County Baseball Tournament. The Hunt-Baldwin Baseball Service Award is named in honor of Jim Hunt and George Baldwin, co-founders of the Bergen County Baseball Tournament. This award recognizes the service of an individual in Bergen County who contributes to the advancement of Bergen County Baseball and is awarded annually by the Bergen County Coaches Association (BCCA).

Hunt’s father, Mickey, has been the baseball coach at Ramapo High School for the past 15-seasons. He has had numerous All-League, County, and State players, including one All-American, and eventual first round draft choice: Hunt’s older brother, Shooter. Over-the-course of the past 15-seasons, Coach Hunt has amassed a win loss record of 292-139 and has been named Coach of the Year numerous times. Both Hunt’s father and grandfather have been inducted into the New Jersey State Coaches Hall of Fame.

Finally, to top off an already illustrious baseball background, Hunt’s brother Shooter has had a baseball life of his own. After gaining All-League, County, State, and All-America honors in high school, Shooter continued his career at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he was a two-time first team All-Conference pitcher, and Conference-USA Pitcher of the Year his junior year. He was also awarded first team All-America by Baseball America and USA Today, and drafted in the first round – 31st overall - by the Minnesota Twins in 2008.

Needless to say, TJ Hunt (and the entire Hunt family) provide a wealth of real-life baseball experience, deep inside the walls of New Jersey baseball.
