Indiana University was eliminated in the NCAA baseball regionals, but ten Hoosiers will head to Omaha for the College World Series at CD Ameritrade Stadium, June 14-25.

Louisville (50-15) has four players from Indiana high schools on its roster – senior Alex Chittenden and junior Jared Ruxer (both from Lawrence Central), sophomore Jordan Striegel and freshman Josh Rogers (both from New Albany).

Chittenden, the Cardinals third baseman, is batting .291 this year.  Ruxer is 7-1 with a 2.27 earned run average.  The right-hander was a Los Angeles Angels’12th-round draft pick last weekend.  Rogers, a left-hander, is 3-3 in nine starts while Striegel, an infielder, has seen limited duty.

Vanderbilt’s roster also includes four former Indiana preps.  The Commodores (45-19) have senior Steven Rice (Crawfordsville), junior Jared Miller (Avon), sophomore Luke Stephenson (Triton Central) and freshman Nolan Rogers (Bloomington South).

Miller, a left-handed pitcher, has a 6-2 won/loss record with a 4.20 ERA.  He was the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 11th-round selection in the June draft.  Rogers, an infielder-outfielder, has a .213 average in 54 games.  Rice, a southpaw, and Stephenson, a righty, have seen little action this season.

Jerrick Suiter (Valparaiso), who has played every position except second base and shortstop in his three years at Texas Christian (47-16), is the Horned Frogs’ designated hitter.  Suiter, drafted in the 26th round by the Pirates, is batting .278.

Left-hander Dillon Peters (Cathedral) went 7-3 with a 2.13 ERA this year for the Texas Longhorns (43-19). The 2010 Indianapolis Star Super Team, Player of the Year and two-time All-State pick has been sidelined due to an elbow injury last month.  Peters was the Miami Marlins’ 10th-round draft pick.
