SCout notes

LBA

2020 Jaxson Edwards Catcher R/R (Lubbock Coronado HS)
Physical backstop. Durable frame (5’11) and solid build. Athletic hips. Grinder/high motor type. Blocked well and worked all game. Positive traits to have behind the dish. Edwards has strong hands at the plate and pullside pop. Hit a HR to left center on Thursday.

TEST Baseball 2022s

2022 Thomas Marquardt RHP (Harlan HS)
6’1 Athletic frame. 3/4 to High 3/4 arm slot. Attacked with FB early in the game. Located both armside/gloveside FB. CB was 66-68 and command was inconsistent. Marquardt’s athleticism and easy delivery are good early indicators of what is to come. Best baseball is ahead of him.

Texas Twelve Gold 16U

2022 Lane Stringer RHP (Brazoswood HS)
6’4 projectable frame. Multiple sport athlete. Stringer was 83-85 (touched 86) in the first two innings. He settled in at 82-83. The CB was 71-72. He occasionally missed up in the zone and arm side. Will be interesting to follow Stringer as he starts to hold FB velo into games and refines secondary pitches. Good young arm.

C2 White 2022

2022 Justin Kay SS R/R (LaPorte HS)
High energy MIF. Played it hard all day. Solid defensive actions with ability to play multiple INF positions. At the plate has a simple/balanced set up. Efficient path and picked up a few hits on the day. Has a knock for getting on base.

Elite Baseball Academy 2022

2022 Jakob Charles SS/RHP R/R (San Angelo Central)
5’9 high energy MIF. Twitchy actions at SS. Has ability to cut distance on throws with his footwork at SS. Picked up a few knocks at the plate as well. On the mound Charles came in from SS to close the game against TEST. FB was 82-83 with arm-side run. Competed with paced and presence. CB: 72-73 with tight spin.

Dialed in Cougars

2020 Cooper Baumann CF R/R (Marion HS) 6’0.
Above average athlete. Showed range/good breaks on balls in center. Balanced set up at the dish. Profiles to solid gap to gap bat and athletic 3 position outfielder.

Austin Wings Black

2022 Blake Coleman LF R/R (Anderson HS)
6’3 physical bat with above average bat speed. Coleman consistently finds barrel. He made hard contact several times during the first two days of play. Unorthodox set up but attacks with bat speed.
