Prep Baseball Report

Throwback Thursday - Tri-Cities Prospect ID

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Richland, WA - Fall events give us the opportunity to check out prospects who start to come into their own heading into their upperclassman years as well as emerging players who will be getting the chance to step between the lines on varsity for the first time.

Getting the chance to evaluate and look at prospects during the Fall season is a big help as we get closer to the Spring and start to prepare for the match-ups we need to see as well as the marquee players in the territory.

Prep Baseball Report events work in tandem with our scouting coverage and multimedia platforms to create a powerful source of information at the ground level of the state.

With that being said, take a look at the top measurables for players who joined us at our Tri-Cities Prospect ID.

Quick Hits

‘24 JR Starr, INF/RHP, Hermiston (OR) made the trip across the border and is going to be a name to remember. He’s still growing into his developing frame but his actions on both sides of the ball are advanced for his age. Already shows some feel for the barrel at the plate and has the arm action/body control to make an impact on the mound as well.

‘23 Kooper Jones, C, Richland, Washington State commit was one of the younger players in attendance but you’d never know that from watching him play. Already possessing an advanced combination of size, speed and strength, he is an exceptional receiver behind the dish with plenty of athleticism left to tap into. The Washington State commit will likely find himself towards the top of all state rankings for the 2023 class.

‘22 Connor Andreas, SS, Central Valley showed the most impressive speed on the day as well as an impressive combination of bat speed and defensive actions. After missing some time in the spring/summer with an injury, Andreas has the look of a player who will assert himself as one of the top underclassmen in the state

+ ‘22 Hayden Dearie, SS, Lakeside had an impressive round of BP, showing legit pull-side power. Puts an aggressive move on the ball but keeps the swing short to the ball and maintains body control throughout. Defensively he moved well at SS and has the actions to find a long-term home at an INF spot.

‘22 Rutger Youch, OF, Hazen brings an exciting blend of size, speed and power to the table. Projects well in the OF with his athleticism and arm strength. There’s some raw power in his bat and he will likely refine his offensive game as he gets more reps and experience over time.

‘22 Cameron Kallsen, RHP, Richland has the size, arm strength and pitchability to develop into a reliable starter at the next level. Displayed an impressive overall feel for all of his offerings and will likely make a jump in stuff as he physically develops.

+ ‘21 Kyle Henington, OF, Fife was a breakout performer at our Pacific Northwest Championship earlier in the Fall. Shows no signs of slowing down and should continue to develop as an athletic OF’er with a consistent contact skills from the left-side.

‘21 Kyle Parkman, OF, Central Valley continues to show off premium bat speed while generating consistent hard contact from the left-side. Profiles to a corner OF spot and as long as he continues to hit, he should find his way onto somebody's roster.

'20 Kyle Marboe, 3B, Hanford took an impressive round of BP with a fluid, level swing and the ability to consistently produce line-drive contact. Defensively he can handle a corner INF spot with his soft-glove hand and footwork.
