Tobye Sets Pace, Andrean Tops Morton 3-0

On yet another chilly day in Northwest Indiana, unsigned Senior Nick Tobye helped set the pace early, as his Fighting 59ers topped the Govenors 3-0 Wednesday. In the bottom half of the 1st inning, Tobye doubled with two outs, to score Jeremy Wright (2013: uncommitted); thus taking a 1-0. Andrean would then add two more runs in the bottom half of the 2nd inning off the bats of Jeremy Briggs (2013: uncommitted) and Roger Smith (2012: uncommitted).

Meanwhile, Andrean pitcher Jimmy Tarala (2013: uncommitted) was in control from the first pitch (6IP,0R, 7K). Morton Freshman, Cody Earl was one of five Govenors to single off Tarala; however, induced ground balls seemingly ended any momentum Morton started. Submarine Senior, Mark Pishkur, came in to relieve Tarala, pitching a perfect 7th inning to obtain the Save.

Surprising Player of the Day: No question, Nick Tobye (unsigned) from Andrean. This Senior catcher possesses all the natural qualities a coach could want in a c0atcher. He has tremendous instinct, great hands, and knowledge behind to plate, to compliment his strong arm (2.12, 2.06,2.01, 2.00). Undoubtedly the hardest position to play on a consistent basis, Tobye made the game look easy on Wednesday.
