Top 10 Profiles of 2022: No. 8 Brayden Olson

Today we continue our ‘End of the Year’ countdown, highlighting the most viewed player profiles in Wisconsin from this year. We’ll be working our way to the top spot, starting with No. 10 and releasing the most viewed name on New Year’s Eve.

Olson enters our top-10 at No. 8 overall after he began his big year as one of the top uncommitted players in the Midwest, until he landed his commitment to Purdue. He was stellar in the winter, showing improvements across all facets with a familiar swing-and-miss changeup that's become trademark, and his velocity kept ticking up throughout the spring and summer. We named him to our First Team All-State list at the end of the WIAA season and published this about his performance as a junior for St. Croix Falls:

"Also has been heralded as one of the best uncommitted players in the area both prior to, during, and after this WIAA season, and his spring stats tell a large part of that story. Olson guided St. Croix Falls to a Division 3 runner-up finish at the WIAA state tournament this season as a two-way star in Wisconsin’s junior class. Olson allowed not a single earned run in his 48.2 innings this season, and he struck out 98 batters total. The best his opponents could do was tally 16 total hits and just 15 walks over that span. Meanwhile, Olson recorded a 1.209 OPS with 12 doubles, three homers, and a batting average of .465, collecting 36 RBIs for SCF."

We saw him next at the PBR Midwest ProCase in late June where he was up to 92 mph inside one of the event's most complete 'pens, and there was plenty of competition for that title too. Olson's repeatedly impressive outings have helped him garner upward momentum up the state rankings and now onto the national board, and we're eager to see how he'll look as he exits the final offseason of his prep career.
