Top Prospect - Milwaukee: Preview

The Top Prospect - Milwaukee showcase is set to take place on tomorrow, July 16, at The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, Wis. The showcase is an invite-only event that will be open to the top 2020 prospects in the state – and it’s perennially one of our highest-attended summer events by college recruiters.

Like any other PBR showcase, the event will feature a position player workout that includes a timed 60-yard dash, an exit velocity station, live batting practice, and infield/outfield defensive evaluations. On top of the workout, each player will be divided into four separate teams for the opportunity to put their talents on display in a live game atmosphere. Pitchers will be evaluated during gameplay.

Last year’s event saw a wealth of talent from both Illinois and Wisconsin. LHP Johnny Beck (Rochelle Township, IL, 2019; Western Illinois commit), C Ben Harris (Prairie Ridge, IL, 2019; Brewton-Parker College), 2B Marcus Cline (Fall Creek, 2019; Wisconsin-Milwaukee), RHP Trent Turzenski (Burlington, 2019; Valparaiso), and LHP Tyler Denu (Mount Horeb, 2019; Evansville) were all some of the notable standouts. There are a number of talented prospects to keep an eye on this year. Uncommitted RHPs Nick Cairo (Kenosha Bradford, 2020), Carter Endisch (Arrowhead, 2020), Nolan Vlcek (Lockport, IL, 2020), Mitchell Alba (Franklin, 2020), and Blake Oesterblad (Loyola Academy, IL, 2020) are all high-follow arms that will be attending the event.

Nick Cairo (3/3/19)

Positionally, SS Brady Jurgella (Menasha, 2020) is trending up due to his defensive prowess and overall feel for the barrel from the left-side. OF Jacyk Uehling (South Milwaukee, 2020) has impressed with his athleticism and legitimate 6.60 speed. OF Call Verlanic (Bay Port, 2020) is a physical talent who has shown a strong hit tool, and C Matthew DePrey (Sun Prairie, 2020) will be an exciting watch due to his catch-and-throw abilities behind the plate.

In total, there are eight uncommitted top-50 prospects in the Wisconsin 2020 Rankings attending this event. With so much available talent on display, this year’s showcase becomes must-see.
