Top Prospect Games: Games from Monday, June 1, 2015

After the pro-style work out, we played 6 games at the Top Prospects Games hosted at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. Here is a rundown of the first two games.

Game 1
Red vs White

2016 RHP Ryan Czanstkowski squared off against 2016 LHP Jakob Henry for the first 3 innings.  After three innings the score was tied 1-1. Henry gave up 1 unearned in the top of the 1st when 2017 CIF Cade Tucker reached on an error and later scored on a passed ball. Henry’s final line was 1 run on 1 hit with 3 strike outs. Czanstkowski gave up 1 earned in the first when 2017 OF Evan Hooper scored on a 2017 CIF Paxton Wallace single. Czanstowski gave up just 2 hits while striking out 3 in his 3 innings pitched.

Both teams brought in left-handers as their first relievers with 2017 LHP Kinner Brasher pitching for the Red team and 2016 LHP Triston Wolfe pitching for the White team. Brasher cruised pitching 2 innings striking out 5, while surrendering 2 hits in 2 innings pitched. Wolfe gave up 2 runs 2016 OF Ryan Fielder drew a walk, 2017 CIF David Rainwater hit a double, Fielder scored on a 2017 OF Jacob Williams groundball and Rainwater scored on a passed ball. Wolfe’s final line was 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 2 in 2 innings pitched.

In the 6th the Red team brought in 2017 RHP Michael Panis, and the White team brought in 2016 RHP Drew Young.  Panis gave up 2 runs in the 6th when 2016 CIF Daniel Hughes hit a 2 out double to score 2016 OF Tanner Rice (single) and 2016 RHP/OF Drew Young (Walk). In the bottom of the 6th the White was held scoreless as Young Struck out 2 and walked 1. The White offense wasn’t done in the 7th scoring another run when 2016 MIF Caleb Whelchel scored on a 2018 MIF Connor McCullough single. In the bottom of the 7th the Red team scratched out a run when 2016 OF Darien Burns scored on a passed ball, after reaching on an error. Young recorded 2 more strike out totally 4 strike outs in 2 innings.

2017 RHP Jacob Williams (Red) and 2016 LHP Tanner Rice (White) entered the game in the 8th. Williams pitched 2 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hits with 3 strike outs. Rice pitched 2 innings allowing 5 runs. Offensive highlights for the Red team were a 2 RBI triple by 2016 OF Ryan Fielder in the 8th and 3 consecutive double in the 9th by 2016 C J. Paul Fullerton, 2017 CIF Paxton Wallace and 2016 OF Noah Holt.

The Red team won 8-6.

Game 2
Green vs Black

The Green team defeated the black team 9-8 in comeback fashion. 2018 RHP Will Richardson picked up the win for the Green Team.

2016 RHP Jon Youngblood worked two inning for the Green team allowing 0 runs, escaping a jam in the second after his defense committed two errors behind him. 2016 Christian Goshen threw for the Black team allowing 1-0 on a sac fly by 2016 MIF Rustin Hays.

 

The Black team tied the game in the top of the 3rd when 2016 CIF Dylan Hays drove in 2016 OF/MIF Ryan Hunter. They added 2 more runs in the 4th off a 2016 C Dakatoh Stafford double. The Green team threatened in the bottom of the fourth with the bases loaded, but 2016 RHP Jordan Reed escaped trouble when 2017 MIF/OF Casey Martin lined into a double play.

The Black team’s offense continued to roll in the 5th tacking on 3 more runs when 2016 MIF Joe Myers and Brandon Hall had RBI singles. In the 6th they scored 2 more runs taking advantage of 2 errors by the Green team.

The Green team wasn’t done even though they were down 8-1. In the 7th they scored 6 runs highlighted by 2018 C Andrew Hrhea’s 3 RBI double with the bases loaded. In the 8th they tied the game up when 2016 C James Jeffers drove home 2017 MIF/OF Casey Martin, making the score 8-8.

2018 Will Richardson worked a quick 9th with his only blemish being a hit batsmen. In the bottom of the 9th the Green team scored a run to win the game when 2016 RHP/CIF Jon Youngblood walked and later scored on an error.
