Top Prospect Games Nashville: Pitcher Reports

PBR Tennessee Staff

NASHVILLE, TN - The Top Prospect Games: Nashville was held on Tuesday, June 6th at Rose Park in Nashville, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2026 classes from Volunteer state. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at the scouting reports from the event. Next, we look at all catchers from the Top Prospect Games: Nashville.

pitcher reports

Jack Alder, Franklin (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds.
Delivery: Cross-fire delivery, gets into his lower half coming to the plate, fastball works mid to upper 70s and is around the zone, tends to leave all pitches up in the zone, curveball has more of a slurve action than up and down
Arm Action: R. High 3/4, long arm action, stays behind his pitches well
FB: T80, 76-79 mph. FB creates good downward plane as it enters the strike zone. His FB will play best when he works it down in the zone and both side of the plate. Velo is not overwhelming but he can create many different speeds by moving his ball around the zone and keeping it down in the zone. T2172, 2019 average rpm.
CB: 58-69 mph. CB has good action to it, breaks down and towards his glove side. Has the tendency to back up on his or stay armside. CB will play best for a strike moving away from a RHH. If he shows he can throw it for a strike consistently he can expand the zone and get swings outside the zone T1960, 1638 average rpm.
CH: 71-71 mph. CH has same downward plane as FB, but has some downward movement to it. CH will work best when its thrown off his FB, it will tunnel well and get lots of swing and miss if he's working both at the knees T1707, 1707 average rpm.

Evan Bloomer, First Assembly Christian (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Long frame with great late life. Really has an understanding of getting extension with his pitches. Quiet delivery with explosive finish over his front side. Good feel for his breaking ball with late life. More comfortable out of the windup. Out of the stretch hands work well with his lower half and gets the ball out quick. Average spin rate could work to develop as he matures as a pitcher.
Body: 6-4, 210-pounds. Tall with present frame and plenty of room for added muscle growth. Athletic
Delivery: Athletic mover, sits into his hips well allowing him to control his body down the mound well; Does a good job of blocking with his lead leg and rotating down through it
Arm Action: R. High 3/4, long arm action, has a catapult arm action, quick arm
FB: T88, 86-88 mph. FB plays best up, has good induced vertical break on it, while creating good backspin on his FB. His tall frame and good extension will give his FB more life and his metrics indicate and could get lots of swings up in the zone T2067, 1918 average rpm.
CB: 70-70 mph. CB has big break to it, will play best when he pairs it with his FB up. Has the ability to tunnel his pitches really well. He will get a lot of taken strikes if he pairs it with the high FB. This will keep them off his FB as well T1892, 1892 average rpm.
SL: 69-70 mph. SL will play best when he throws it down the middle and lets it break to his gloveside. Has potential to be a swing and miss pitch, has good movement down and gloveside moving away from RHH. T1893, 1835 average rpm.

Christian Chandler, Lookout Valley (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic tight delivery with a quiet front side. Out of the stretch the lefty has a good pick off move with a runner on first. Struggles with falling off glove side down the mound. Really braces plant leg and really gets hyperextended over his frontside. Lacks command in his early years as a pitcher.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm action that comes from a high 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T80, 75-78 mph. FB will play best low in the zone, this will play off his offspeed much better. FB will play the best when it plays off his offspeed pitches this will keep it fresh and give him the ability to get it past hitters T1770, 1651 average rpm.
CB: 64-70 mph. CB plays to LHH really well. He creates lots of horizontal movement with this pitch. He should throw this pitch often and make hitters trying to get on plane with this pitch. Swing and miss potential T1971, 1902 average rpm.
SL: 66-69 mph. Similar profile to his CB, will play when he throws it for a strike and lets the movement do the work. Will miss lots of barrels and get lots of swing and misses T2036, 1966 average rpm.

Chase Fernandez, Stewarts Creek (TN), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Athletic pitcher that understands how to use his body matching his lower half effectively up with his upper half. Really understands how to create seperation with his shoulder and hip and drive down the mound. Starts from left foot offset to a natural leg lift with tension from his plant toe present to fully open up upon delivery. Uses really good glove side hand turnover upon rotation and creates extended release. Has present feel for breaking ball but can lag behind at times as his delivery can be quick. Really quick arm with loose actions
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Strong lower half
Delivery: He is able to work down in the zone early with his fastball with a quiet explosive delivery. Out of the stretch the right works knee to knee and down hill quick. He struggles to stay on top of his slider. As he gets older he should be able to figure that out and become a very dangerous pitcher.
Arm Action: R. The 2025 righty throws from a 3/4th arm slot. He gets the ball out of the glove quick to let the great arm action work.
FB: T86, 81-86 mph. FB will play when he throws it in the zone mixing location. He has good backspin and velocity on his FB, plays above its velocity. Being able to mix locations will make his SL harder to hit and make hitting off hit uncomfortable T2097, 1996 average rpm.
SL: 72-75 mph. Spins his SL well, SL will play when its in the zone with good downward action to it; Will get swing and miss with the sharp break T2258, 2237 average rpm.
ATH: 7.10 runner in the 60. 1.81 and 4.00 10 and 30 yard splits.

Eli Gardenhire, Boyd Buchanan (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-4, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Slower delivery guy with great arm side sink. The lefty has great feel for his CH with late life. With a runner on his hands are still in sink with his front leg but struggles with getting the ball out of his glove. Tunnels all 3 pitches well for strikes. Doesn't shy away from contact after an early walk. The lefty continues to pound the zone with all 3 pitches.
Arm Action: LH. Taller pitcher with high 3/4 arm slot. Hides the ball well for a long time.
FB: T82, 78-80 mph. FB plays best when its thrown for a strike armside. He creates good sink to his ball. FB will be working best when he gets lots of weak contact early in the count, will be hard for hitters to stay on his FB and go the other way with it T1986, 1836 average rpm.
SL: 67-69 mph. SL will play best when he throws it down the middle and lets it break to his glove side. Should be thrown mostly to LHH as its moving away from them and will tunnel with his FB well, can mix it in to RHH to steal strikes T2016, 1934 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. CH will play great off his FB. Has similar profile but good speed difference. Has armside fade. Will fool lots of hitters into weak contact or ground balls T1953, 1725 average rpm.

Hutson Hawk Hargrove, Fairview (TN), 2025
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP Body mechanics are very similar to matt harvey. Easy mechanics with fluid leg lift gaining ground to home upon lift. Can get reachy with his glove hand to home but has solid hand turnover and levers his shoulder well, as he will throw consistent strikes with his offerings. Opens his hips up well, but could probably gain some additional velo by staying closed longer upon separation. Slows down arm speed on breaking ball and advanced hitters will pick that tendency up. Late break however on pitch
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. Athletic build, room to grow
Delivery: He works with a knee to stomach leg kick that with more time could create some serious power. With a runner on he is slower to the plate which could make it easier for the run game.
Arm Action: R. Hargrove works from an over the top arm slot that helps create downhill tilt. He has a smooth arm action.
FB: T82, 80-81 mph. FB has slight armside run to it, will play best low in the zone and creating weak contact. Can locate to both sides of the plate and moving around the zone will make him very effective T2031, 1964 average rpm.
CB: 67-70 mph. CB has good shape, will play best as a way to keep bitters off the FB. He can steal strikes with it and expand the zone with two strikes to get a potential swing and miss T2057, 2031 average rpm.
ATH: 7.63 runner in the 60. 1.81 and 4.18 10 and 30 yard splits.

Cason Hill, Middle Tennessee Christian (TN), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/SS Falls off the mound. Really flexible and has an advanced feel of coiling his body to create tension and torque. Can have a wild head and jerk it as he is more max effort arm at this point in his development. Is more of a thrower at this point and lacks the necessary feel on the mound to throw strikes at a consistent clip. Leads down the mound with his hips from a coiled lead leg turn. Overtop delivery arm action but can fall off the mound upon release. LAcks synching with off-speed to fastball as he slows down to have feel for it.
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Athletic, long and twitchy with room for added length and size
Delivery: Explosive delivery that helps create great shoulder and hip speratation. Creates solid spinal separation that helps generate a lot of power. In his delivery he coils his body that helps him create great force from the ground.
Arm Action: R. He throws from straight over the top and has a very whippy arm action that helps him throw a heavy baseball.
FB: T90, 82-89 mph. FB plays as a strike or at the top of the zone, his stuff alone will make it hard for hitters, but it will play the best at the top of the zone. His high spin rate and high induced vertical will make it hard for hitters to get on top of the baseball T2405, 2288 average rpm.
CB: 66-68 mph. CB has good shape and late break to it. It will play best when its thrown competitively, thrown down the middle and letting it break down to the corner or break out of the zone will get the best results T2261, 2128 average rpm.
CH: 74-74 mph. Does a really good job of killing spin on his pitch compared to his FB, CH plays best when LHH are cheating to his FB, it has more depth than run to it. Will create swing and miss but needs to be close to the zone T1427, 1427 average rpm.
ATH: 6.79 runner in the 60. 1.63 and 3.75 10 and 30 yard splits.

Noah Ilias, Mt Juliet (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Tight windup and rides the mound down athletically. Arm can sometimes lag behind delivery but allows hip to create solid shoulder/hip separation. Blocks his pelvis extremely well and allows hips to turnover. with great extension on pitches. Can get wrappy with breaking ball and look to aim it at times instead of trust his arm and wrist action. Good feel for pitches and attacking the zone, especially down.
Body: 6-2, 190-pounds. Tall with present muscle at an athletic build. plenty of room to grow.
Delivery: Out of the windup the well built righty has a hitch after bringing the ball out. He is not afraid of contact and is able to locate his off speed in early counts. Arm lags behind his body and struggles to get on top of his breaking ball.
Arm Action: RH. Funky low 3/4th slot with good arm side run. Long arm action
FB: T81, 78-80 mph. FB will play down in the zone, he gets good armside movement which will be hard for RHH to keep their hands inside his ball. He needs to throw to both sides of the plate to keep them off his FB T2172, 2052 average rpm.
SL: 67-68 mph. SL will play best when he throws it from behind a RHH, the funkiness in his delivery and arm angle will make for a hard visual. SL will tunnel well with his FB moving the opposite direction T2084, 2025 average rpm.

Josh Jeffcoat, Eagleville (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Athletic delivery with really fluid hip actions with a clean arm. Has a great feel for synching his body up upon delivery to get maximum amount of energy out of his frame. Really nice breaking ball that comes from the same slot and arm speed as his fastball. Creates great arm side run and will bust righties in and wont be afraid to work in.
Body: 6-3, 175-pounds. Tall and Slim stature frame with athletic components. Fluid and elastic. Plenty of room for added size
Delivery: He is a very athletic kid that creates elasticity in his delivery. He has great separation that helps him throw a heavy baseball. His hands work well with his lower half as he explodes down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. The righty of Eagleville throws from higher 3/4th slot and lets his athletic arm work.
FB: T87, 83-86 mph. FB plays best when its in the zone and down in the zone. He has slight armside run to his ball. He can be effectively wild, making him uncomfortable to face. T2257, 2086 average rpm.
SL: 68-74 mph. SL has good horizontal movement and depth. Late break to it making it a out pitch. Will play best when it plays off his FB T2173, 2008 average rpm.
CH: 75-77 mph. Good armside break to his CH, plays armside really well, will get LHH swing and miss as its moving away from them. Hitters will need to cheat to his FB to be on time which will give his CH a good chance to get bad swings on it T2051, 1726 average rpm.

Evan Kirby, The Webb School (TN), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-6, 210-pounds. Big frame that is lacking some muscle mass but has plenty of room for growth
Delivery: The young righty comes in a fills up the zone early. He is a big built pitcher that doesn't know how to use his lower half yet in sync with upper half rotation. He hides the ball for a long time so the 83 to 84 mph FB sneaks up on hitters. Has a clean hand break timed with lower half.
Arm Action: RH. Righty has a clean arm action as he goes from hip to ear. As a taller pitcher he has a quicker arm out of his glove. Kirby releases the ball from a high 3/4th arm slot to create weak contact.
FB: T85, 82-84 mph. FB plays best down in the zone, gets armside run to help miss barrels and create weak contact. Getting ahead in the count will play a big factor in the success of his FB T1868, 1754 average rpm.
SL: 69-71 mph. SL will work best when its thrown off his FB. Moving the opposite way of his FB will create lots of weak contact and taken strikes. T2041, 1756 average rpm.
CH: 72-72 mph. Does a good job of killing spin on his CH. CH will play best when its thrown to LHH and lets it work armside, will be hard for them to go the other way with it T1313, 1204 average rpm.

Payton Miller, Independence (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Long, room to grow
Delivery: The Indy pitcher has a smooth delivery that helps him hide the ball really well. When the righty stays in line with his body he is able to locate really well. Out of the stretch he is a knee to knee guy that helps work over his front side really well. Clean mechanic pitcher. Front side leveler he helps stay smooth and rotate. BB has great life and drops off the table late. Stays fluid and composted.
Arm Action: R. Miller throws from a true 3/4 arm slot that creates good whip.
FB: T84, 82-83 mph. FB will play up in the zone, his spin rate is high and he creates good backspin on the ball. This will be hard for hitters to match the plane on his FB T2556, 2505 average rpm.
CB: 71-73 mph. CB spins good, will get the best results when its in for a strike, will keep hitters off the FB and tunnel with his FB well at the top of the zone T2393, 2316 average rpm.
ATH: 7.36 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.07 10 and 30 yard splits.

Cooper Nebben, Clarksville (TN), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Great tunneling with with fastball to his curveball. Breaking ball is a really advanced offering with present feel and late break.Sits really well fluidly upon hips opening up to transfer energy. Can get a lot of ride inside to righties and jam hitters. Can also live low and away as his body naturally angles as his foot plants in that direct line
Body: 6-1, 155-pounds. Slight frame, room to grow
Delivery: He is delivery is a smooth twitchy movement that helps him work well down the mound. The only problem is he has trouble staying linear towards the catcher.
Arm Action: R. Cooper works a quick short arm action from a over the top arm slot.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. FB plays down in the zone. Creates good downward angle on his FB. Will be hard for hitters to get on plane with it, due to his backspin and induced vertical break he can swing and miss at pitches at the top of the zone as well T2138, 1936 average rpm.
CB: 70-71 mph. Has good spin of his CB, has good drop to it. Will play the best when he's getting swing and misses on it out of the zone T2222, 2094 average rpm.

Simple lig lift that he does a great job of staying over with his chest and front side. With a higher elbow upon delivery can easily add another 2-3 miles per hour to his fastball. Strong competitor with advanced feel for being on the mound. Plays with a lot of confidence. Commands the lower/outer part of the zone with offspeed and fastball.
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Athletic build with loose body with plenty of room for added size and muscle. Limber with long limbs
Delivery: The righty has a good pace on his wind up but struggles sometimes which causes him to miss high armside. He is more comfortable out of the stretch after an early walk. Out of the stretch he works from a medium leg kick as his hands are able to get going. He was able to locate his BB for a strike early and work it off the plate for swing and misses. The only side note is that on his off speed pitches he drops his elbow just a tad. This kid isn't just a thrower he is a pitcher as he moves all pitches in and out.
Arm Action: RH. Eli throws from a 3/4 arm slot and the arm action works quickly out of the glove.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. FB plays armside with heavy run to it. Will be hard for RHH to get their hands inside on his FB T2170, 2005 average rpm.
