Background

Kyle Malejko is a PBR veteran, showing standout abilities at three separate events. He is a starter at Pope John XXIII High School and had a solid summer for his Fielder’s Choice travel program. He is a gamer in every sense of the word. He makes consistent hard contact, has an extremely efficient first step in the outfield, and plays above his raw speed when on the base paths. He throws 87 miles-per-hour from the outfield and has a knack for knowing where to go with the ball. He’s a solid outfield prospect and took the mound at the Winter Trials North so let’s dive in to his scouting report on the mound.

Scouting Report

The left-hander has an athletic build and stands 5-foot-10, 165 pounds. He pitches with simple, repeatable mechanics. His arm slot is slightly higher than 3/4 with a short, compact arm swing. His fastball was 78-82 miles-per-hour with arm side run. His breaking ball is a potentially plus pitch at 64-66 MPH. It had plus shape and spin, with late depth. His changeup mimicked his fastball at 79-81. Malejko has feel for command of three pitches and could be a very effective college reliever.
