Top Prospects From Ozone Scout Day

Blake Davis
State Director

This week we highlight some of the best prospects from the Ozone Warriors Scout Day this past Sunday at Ivy-Watson Field in Gainesville, GA.

Best Pitching Prospect:

Zach Valentine RHP / Gainesville , GA / 2020

Valentine is a medium framed right-hander from Gainesville High School where he leads the rotation. He has been a mainstay on the mound for the Ozone Warriors over summer taking on some of the states power programs, and shows extreme strike thrower qualities. He is athletic with a fast arm, and a repeatable delivery. Valentine can run his fastball up into the mid-80's with sink and the ability to gain more velocity with added strength and maturity. Valentine has quality feel for his change-up and will be a pitch he locates well at the next level. Valentine's breaking ball is more of change of pace than a true out-pitch, but is plenty to keep hitters off balance and compliments his fastball well.  Valentine has the potential to be a quality competitor with some upside and offer immediate dependability as a strike thrower at the next level.

Best Offensive Prospect:

Logan Hare 3B / Habersham Central, GA / 2021

This was our second year seeing Hare at the Ozone scout day and Hare continues to impress with the bat.  He has gotten stronger and showed improved bat-speed (86 mph) exit velocity.  Hare has a balanced approach at the plate and has no problem centering baseballs.  Profiling as a corner player at the next level with a consistent bat.

Best Catching Prospect:

John Tyler Maynard C / RHP / West Hall , GA / 2021

Maynard is a thin, wiry 6-foot, 160-pound catching prospect from West Hall High School With a pop time of 2.05-2.07 (72 mph) Maynard has no problem delivering the ball on time. He moves well behind the plate and shows good energy for the game

Best Athlete:

Tyler Kennedy C / OF / Southland Academy , GA / 2020

At 6-foot, 165-pounds Kennedy has a strong athletic build and showed strong measurables during the "Scout Day".  Running a 7.0 flat 60 yard dash with strong easy strides.  Kennedy's arm strength also stood out at two positions OF (86 mph) and catcher (75 mph).  On top of these skills Kennedy showed he is a strong also posting and event best 89 mph exit velocity.  Very strong ingredients for this next level talent.
