Lincoln Park Rails vs. Michigan Bulls 18U

2016 Steven Glenn (Lincoln Park HS) smashed a double off the right field fence in the first, and one batter later was driven in by Jesse Hernandez (Detroit Western International) to get the scoring started. The Rails added one more run on a single by William Janes (Lincoln Park HS) to give the them a 2-0 lead after one half inning of play.

Rails starting pitcher Alexis Santos touched 86 mph in the bottom of the first. In the second, Cole Thune (Detroit Catholic Central HS) and Santos would match each other, putting up zeroes.

In the fourth, the Bulls Dante Toppi (Detroit Catholic Central HS) laid down a great drag bunt to lead off the inning, and would later come around to score on a Rail balk. The Bulls would add one more on a clutch RBI single from Kalamazoo College commit Scott Zychowski to even the score at 2-2.

In the top of the sixth, Bulls shortstop Joe Tenaglia made a terrific play in the hole to steal a hit, save a run, and get the Bulls out of another jam. The Bulls would score three runs in the bottom half to take a 5-2 lead heading to the seventh inning.

Rails infielder Franco Succurro (Rochester College) put together a great at bat to drive in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3. Tenaglia would make another great play on a ground ball up the middle to get the force out at second to end the game, giving the Bulls a 5-3 win.
