Scouting Report

8/1/16- 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Controlled delivery, tall balance point, with direction and finish to plate. Has good extension on fastball, clean arm action, and ball jumps out of hand. Fastball was 83-86 mph, touching 87 mph, with late 2-seam life. Inconsistent shape on breaking ball; thrown at 72-73 mph. Changeup was thrown with fastball arm speed at 75-77 mph. 7.89 runner. Wide square stance, body load, short leg kick trigger, minimal weight shift through contact, pull approach, out and around at contact, 85 mph exit velocity. Fields and throws flat-footed, funnels ball deep into body occasionally, usable glove, solid carry and accuracy on throws, 81 mph arm strength across diamond. Strong follow on mound in IA 2018 class.

 

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
DAVITT: Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, South Carolina- Upstate, South Dakota State, Kirkwood and Iowa. 

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?
DAVITT: I have visited every school on the above list.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school?
DAVITT: I am looking for a school with a competitive baseball program and solid academics.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?
DAVITT: Career bests in ERA(.47), Strikeouts (65), ER (4), record (7-1). Gave up 1 run, in 2-1 win. First sub-state win since 2007 for Indianola.

PBR: What are your goals for this year?
DAVITT: I'd like to be 1st team All-State with 75+ K's and under a .47 era. I want to lead Indianola to the state tournament.  

PBR: Do you play any other sports?
DAVITT: No. I concentrate on baseball all year.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?
DAVITT: I have a 3.2 GPA and 26 ACT.
