Scouting Report

3/18/18- 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; lean frame with long limbs, higher tuck and turn, long and loose out front with hand speed. Fastball was 83-85 mph with flashes of late run. Hitchier arm action on curveball; shows ability to consistently land for strikes, with solid 11/5 shape and spin. Solid action and fade on changeup. 7.4 runner. Open stance, steep uphill plane through baseball, spray contact, with avg. pop in bat, 80 mph exit velocity. Agile in field, solid athleticism, plays loose and easy actions, above avg. arm, has carry and accuracy with online throws to target, 86 mph arm strength from outfield.

 

10/22/17- 6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Will make a jump into MN 2019 rankings. On mound; controlled delivery with tempo and athleticism, long whippy low ¾ arm slot, slight wrap on back-side, and lands inline to catcher. Fastball was 80-81 mph, has present life, with flashes of late run and sink. Breaking ball could develop into above avg. pitch; currently has sweeping action with 11/5 shape. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm action and has plus fade in the bottom of zone. 7.06 runner. Open stance, athletic actions, inverted swing plane, hard mid/away contact, line drives and fly balls, with above avg. extension through zone, 86 mph exit velocity. Sure hands, works through ball, creates direction to target, above avg. arm action, accurate to target, 82 mph arm from outfield.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

 

Marsolek: UW-Milwaukee, Augustana, Mankato State, Hamline, and Augsburg have shown interest in me.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Marsolek: I have visited all of those schools except Hamline

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Marsolek:  I am looking to go somewhere in the midwest and I am interested in studying something in the business field.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?

Marsolek: The fall of my junior year, I made the all tournament team at the Perfect Game Kernal Tournament.

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

Marsolek:  My goal for baseball this year is to continue to get interest this fall, workout all off season, and commit sometime in the spring. My goals academically is to maintain my GPA and score a bit better on my ACT.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Marsolek: I play in a recreational basketball league but other than that I do not play another high school sport.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

Marsolek:  ACT-23 GPA-3.6
