Scouting Report

8/19/18- 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed throwing pitcher.  Athletic frame.  Balanced smooth delivery.  Slight pause behind body with arm after hand break.  Good direction down mound.  Throws from ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is heavy at 84-86 mph with arm side run.  Slider is 71-73 mph with decent shape and spin.  Change-up is 76-77 mph with fade action. 

7/5/18 - 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, lean frame with upside. Easy delivery repeats well and stays balanced, low effort. Arm action is clean, high ¾ slot. Fastball showed finish in the zone, easy life, 85-87 mph. Flashed changeup at 75 mph in one inning stint.

10/24/16- 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; lean athletic build, slight tuck and turn at balance point, hides ball from hitter, with body control and direction to plate. Pie arm action with good quickness and extension out front. Fastball was 81-83 mph late cutting action at the plate. Curveball is above avg. with quality depth, sharp break, and consistent 11/5 shape. Changeup is firm with avg. action; but works bottom of zone well with command. 7.38 runner. Square stance, body load, leans back at contact, lift in swing plane, spray contact across field, 82 mph exit velocity. Solid athlete, avg. actions and glove, has accuracy and carry to bag, 77 mph arm strength. Strong Follow in MN 2019 class.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Maass: There have been some here and there. I have gotten interest from Mid to Major division 1 schools.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Maass: I haven’t taken any official visits yet. But I have taken many unofficial visits.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Maass: I’m not necessarily picky about where I’d like to go. I’m more interested in high academic schools.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?

Maass: The biggest highlight of last year was my 10 inning game against Chanhassen, where I let up one hit.

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

Maass:  I’d love to help take my team back to the State Championship this year.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Maass: I’ve played hockey in the past. And I’ve golfed my whole life as a hobby.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

Maass: ACT: 29, GPA: 3.85
