Scouting Report

8/19/18- 6-foot, 215-pound right-handed throwing pitcher.  Compact body type.  Balanced and good tempo delivery.  Good direction down mound.  Arm works from ¾ arm slot and loose with some whip.  Fastball is 85-87 mph with occasional sink.  Curveball has 11/5 late break with good spin and shape thrown at 69-70 mph. Change-up is 57-77 with occasional fade action.  Solid uncommitted arm in 2019 class.

7/5/18- 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, thick body type. Balance varies at times in delivery, arm plays from high ¾ slot. Fastball flashed finish through the zone, 85-86 mph in the first touched 87 mph once. Changeup at 70-73 mph.

6/19/18- 6-foot, 205-pound right-handed pitcher. #49 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Rocker step into slight crouched balance point, loads over rubber well, clean arm action with good hand speed out front. Fastball was 84-88 mph, throws a heavy ball, with flashes of late running action. Tight spin with late break on 11/5 curveball. Above avg. changeup with late sinking action; thrown at fastball arm speed.

3/18/18- 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitting pitcher. Durable frame with strong lower half. Worked 85-86 mph with quick arm and fastball was heavy in bottom of zone. Slows arm slightly on changeup; worked with solid fade to arm-side. Slider had short tight break at 70-72 mph. Slight cross body delivery creating deception.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Volkers: Several mid-level D1, D2, D3 and JUCO's.
PBR: Have you taken any visits or have any scheduled in the near future?
Volkers: I have not done any official visits yet but have visited several schools unofficially. I have an important workout with several schools coming up and then will prioritize and begin visiting schools this Fall.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school?
Volkers: I'm looking for a school that can help develop my as a player but also offers good academics. I'm not entirely sure what I want to major in, but probably business.
PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year:
Volkers: I threw a combined no-hitter against Elk River; pitched 1 hitter vs. Andover; pitched 7 shutout innings vs. Irondale; pitched  8 2/3 shutout innings against Monticello Legion. Having my younger brother catch me for several games on Varsity this year. Making the Northwest Suburban All Conference, All-Section, and Sports Jam All-Area Team. Voted Pitcher of the Year for my Fall Club Team.
PBR: What are your goals for this year?
Volkers: To finish my senior year strong by getting a 4.0 GPA. To work hard over the winter to get stronger. To join the 90 mph Club by the Spring and keep pounding the zone. To help my team go to the State Tournament.
PBR: Do you play other sports?
Volkers: I don't play any other sports anymore because I have dedicated my time to playing baseball.
PBR: What is your current ACT and GPA?
Volkers: My ACT is 23 and my current GPA is 3.4. I attended PSEO full time as a junior.
