Scouting Report

6/19/18- 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed pitcher. Thin frame, shows body control, high ¾ arm slot, works up and over higher front side, ball jumps out of hand well. Fastball was 83-86 mph with heavy feel and late arm-side running action. Has tight spin and sharp break on 11/5 curveball. Changeup is thrown at fastball arm speed and has fade and sink.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Thelen: I have heard from some D1, D2, and D3 schools, as well as some JUCOs.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Thelen: I haven't gone on any, but I plan to go to NDSU in the near future. 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.) 

Thelen: I am looking for a school with a good engineering program and preferably somewhere in the Midwest. I would also like to attend a larger school.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year? 

Thelen: Some of my highlights from my junior year were playing on a team that wanted everyone to succeed and playing very competitively in the section tournament. 

PBR: What are your goals for this year? 

Thelen: My current goal for this year is to step up and lead our team into a deep section run and hopefully make it into the state tournament. Throughout the next few months, I plan to work on strength training and pitching to improve as a pitcher. I would like to increase the velocity of my pitches and learn another pitch.

PBR: Do you play any other sports? 

Thelen: No, I play baseball year around.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA? 

Thelen: I have a 4.1 GPA and a 30 ACT
