Underclass Spotlight: Class of 2016 Dylan MacKay (Blue Springs HS)

Dylan MacKay, OF/LHP, Blue Springs HS, Class of 2016:
MacKay is an undersized but strong 5-foot-8, 130-pound left handed pitcher and outfielder.

In the outfield, MacKay moves quickly to the ball, taking good angles while keeping his momentum toward his target. His throws were accurate and on a line with a top throw of 72-mph.

At the plate, the LHH has looseness in his swing and generates some bat speed through the zone and not getting cheated in his swings. With a balanced stance, MacKay showed a level swing with an uphill finish, consistently spraying the ball to all fields.

On the mound, the left handed MacKay comes from a high ¾ arm slot with loose arm action. His fastball has slight arm side run, topping at 70 mph. His change up looked to be his best pitch, staying down in the zone with late glove side movement. MacKay also threw a 1-to-7 breaking ball with near fastball arm speed. With a bit more rhythm in his delivery, MacKay should be able to increase his velocity over the next few years.

MacKay also ran a 4.93 home to first.
