Unsigned Senior Showcase: Position Player Review

We hosted the Unsigned Senior Showcase on January 16^th at Extra Innings Little Rock. This event hosted several players that will receive an opportunity to play baseball at the collegiate level. Below is the position players complete evaluation.

2016 C Andrew Moore Riverview HS
Moore is a 5-foot-10 185-pound catcher with a large frame and an athletic build. He impressed as an offensive player producing exit velocities up to 88 mph. He starts from a tall stance with a slight load. He drops his hands and pushes the bat through the hit zone. He uses a partial lower half to drive the ball. Defensively he threw pop times between 2.18 and 2.22. He shows adequate arm strength, but loses valuable time standing up to throw instead of gaining ground. Receiving and blocking Moore showed adequate effort and technique. Overall he is a physically strong player with a high motor.

2016 CIF Brandon Hall Lakeside HS
Hall is a 6-foot-1 200-pound corner-infielder with a large frame and a large build. Defensively he looked solid with fluid footwork and above average defensive actions. He played through the baseball, he used a fluid exchange and a short arm action to throw the baseball 78 mph across the infield. Offensively Hall flashed impressive bat speed registering 91 mph. He starts from an athletic stance. He uses a large leg kick as his load and timing mechanism. He attacks the baseball with and uphill and rotational swing. He shows the ability to hit for power to the pull side. Overall Hall is a physical player with bat speed, he should develop into a quality college corner infielder.

2016 MIF Tyson Flowers Jacksonville HS
Flowers is a 5-foot-9 145-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid foot work. He uses a quick exchange and an accurate arm. He threw the ball 73 mph. Offensively he produced exit velocities up to 85 mph. He starts from an open stance, he dives back into the plate. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and a line drive swing. He showed the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Overall Flowers is a solid athlete running a 4.09 home to first, and shows bat speed with the ability square balls up consistently.

2016 C Matt Robbins Mountain Home HS
Robbins is a 5-foot-10 195-pound catcher with a large frame and an athletic build. The left-handed hitting catcher showed good bat speed producing exit velocities up to 91 mph. He starts from an athletic stance, he has a slight load and consistent rhythm. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and line drive swing. He maintains his balance through to extension. Defensively Robbins threw pop times from 1.95-2.02 with consistent accuracy around the bag. He would benefit from having more fluid footwork. Overall Robbins is a solid offensive player that is adequate as a collegiate catcher.

2016 C Erick Aguirre Lakeside HS
Aguiree is a 5-foot-10 175-pound catcher with an athletic frame and build. He threw pop times between 2.0 and 2.12 with consistent accuracy. He has sound footwork and quickness. He blocks and receives with above average technique. Offensively he starts from a tall stance. He has a slight load and attacks the baseball with a line drive swing. He does a sound job keeping his barrel in the hit zone for an extended period of time. Overall Aguirre is a solid defender with a feel at the plate.

2016 MIF Eric Hankins Pea Ridge HS
Hankins is a 5-foot-7 145-pound middle infielder with a small frame and an athletic build. He played through the baseball defensively with fluid footwork and a quick exchange. He threw the ball accurately across the infield at 79 mph. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, with a minimum load and stride. He attacks the baseball with a line drive swing. He tends to rotate off the baseball that prohibits him from staying through the baseball. He produces exit velocities up to 79 mph. Overall Hankins has solid defensive actions with a high motor.
