Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Brandon Hemberger (Oak Hills HS)

Brandon Hemberger, 1B/OF, Oak Hills HS

The top unsigned first baseman for the class of 2012 is still on the board and he is planning on making a decision soon.

Brandon Hemberger from Oak Hills High School is a 6-foot, 210 pound prospect is talking to several Division 1 schools.

“Right now, I have narrowed down my colleges to Northern Kentucky University, Saint Leo University, and Butler University.”

Brandon feels that due to his perfomance at PBR events has helped create more contact with college coaches.  “I have been receiving many letters and calls from a variety of conferences.”

Here is what his PBR’s scouting report says:

Hemberger, a 6-foot, 210-pound prospect impressed as one of the top power bats at the event. He registered a 7.44 60-yard dash. He projects as a left fielder or first baseman at the next level. From the outfield, he showed 88 mph velocity. While some may argue that he needs to clean up some mechanical issues at the plate, the right-handed hitter showed confidence at the plate with quick bat speed as he sprayed line drives all over the park.

Baseball will be only one piece to the puzzle when Hemberger makes his final decision. In classroom, Brandon carries a stellar 3.9 GPA.

“Academics are the most important to me when choosing a school.  I would like to play for a coach that is going to make me a better person as well as baseball player.”

Last summer, while playing for the Cincinnati Spikes, Brandon put up some major power numbers that opened up a lot of eyes.  .377 with 12 Homeruns and 52 RBI's.

Brandon will once again play for the Spikes in the summer.  They are planning on playing in tournaments in Jupiter, Florida as well as Charleston, South Carolina.
