Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Daniel Marlow, Terre Haute South HS



Marlow is a 6'2", 180 pound senior from Terre Haute South HS. From the field he shows a good glove with some range.  Across the diamond he is 76 mph.  At the plate he hits from the left side with an open stance.  He shows good balance throughout his swing and produces good pop with an uphill swing plane.  On the mound he possesses good arm action with an 81-84 mph fastball.  His breaking ball comes in at 70-73 and throws a changeup at 74-75 mph.

PBR: As you enter your senior year of HS baseball, where are you currently in the recruiting process?

Marlow:  I would say slightly behind, partly due to the fact that I was home schooled up until my junior year.  But I am still going to showcases and sending out emails.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?

Marlow:  I have interest in the following schools; ISU, USI, Western Kentucky, Oral Roberts and EIU. I have also been contacted recently by Cornerstone University and Earlham.  They were at the last showcase I attended.  All of these schools have my Major, Business and Econ.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Marlow:  Probably my quickness to ground balls. Although I had just 7 errors in high school, I believe I could work on improving my range.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer, how do you feel playing for them helped you?

Marlow:  In the summer I play for Post 346 Legion team.  Playing for them helped me because I got to play a lot of games and we played in a lot of good tournaments. Also I had good players and coaches around me.

PBR: What preparation are you doing now for the upcoming high school season?

Marlow:  I am doing workouts with my team every day, and also hitting at home and lifting with my trainer.

PBR: What are your goals for the upcoming 2012 season?

Marlow:  My goals are; Win 10 games as a pitcher, bat above .400, and lead my team to another sectional and regional championship.

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or Summer)?

Marlow:  My fondest memory would be pitching in the regional championship game and hitting the go-ahead 3 run RBI triple.

PBR: What were your stats for your 2011 HS season?  Summer Season?

Marlow:  In High School I batted .355 with a .459 OB%, had 7 errors for 65 attempts, and also was 5-0 as a pitcher.  In the summer I batted .401 and had a .470 OB%.  I was 3-0 as a pitcher with 3 saves.

PBR: What is your GPA?  If you have taken it, what did you get on the ACT/SAT?

Marlow:  My current GPA is a 3.3 and I am waiting on my SAT to be scored. Also, I do take some AP classes.
