Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Jordan Burnett, RHP/INF, Clever HS



The pitching of Jordan Burnett from No. 5 ranked Clever has put the Blue Jays in a position to be the odds on favorite in a run to a Class 2 state championship.

Burnett has emerged from a team full of impact players to post a 4-2 record in seven games started. He has given up only nine runs in thirty-two and a third inning, while striking out forty-five batters and posting a 1.72 ERA.

Burnett has also contributed at the plate, batting .306 with seven RBIs and eleven runs scored.

Burnett is one of only three seniors on the Clever squad, looking to finish their careers in a high note, with the much-coveted state championship.

In our latest Q&A Profile, we get some thoughts from Jordan Burnett. 

PBR: Talk a little about the Clever HS team, and your supporting cast’s contributions.

Burnett: We have a very strong line-up all around. We have no major holes in the line-up. We also play as a team.

 

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?

Burnett: Fielding and Pitching. I am a good contact hitter.

 

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Burnett: The consistent power with my swing.

 

PBR: What have are your expectations for the recruiting process?

Burnett: I don’t really have any.

 

PBR: What time of program would you like to play at? What id=s the most important to you: Caliber of program, coaching staff, academics, etc…?

Burnett: I would like to play at a decently successful program with good academics.

 

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?

Burnett: Central Methodist because it is a good small school and I know a few people there.

 

PBR: What are your personal goals for the 2012 season?

Burnett: To bat over .300 and pitch an ERA under 1.50

 

PBR: What are your high school team goals for 2012 season, and are they being met at the halfway point in the season?

Burnett: Our goal is a state title. Anything less would be a disappointment.

 

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?

Burnett: Clever, but no one this year.

 

PBR: Who are the toughest pitcher/ hitter that you have faced?

Burnett: Austin Tribby

 

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or summer)?

Burnett: Going to the State Final Four.

 

PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?

Burnett: Playing in the USSSA World Series.

 

PBR: What are your thoughts on the implementation of BBCOR bats from both hitting and pitching perspective?

Burnett: It proves the real hitters are, and it makes pitching a little harder because there are more bloop hits.
