Alex Turner, RHP, Russell County HS, 2014

Alex Turner is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound RHP with an athletic frame who participated in the Pre-Season All-State Showcase in February in Lexington.

Turner used short to medium arm action with a quick arm through a high ¾ arm slot to produce a fastball that sat 82-85 mph and topped at 86.  His curveball showed 11/5 action at 61-65 mph, and he showed good feel for his 73-75 mph changeup which showed some arm-side run and sink.  Turner was in the middle of basketball season when we saw him in February, and Russell County Head Coach David Rexroat says he has seen Turner’s velocity as high as 88.

Turner has also been impressive in the classroom to say the least.  The senior is ranked No.1 in his graduating class and scored a 33 on the ACT.

With the graduation of Tyler Roberston (John A. Logan JC) look for Turner, currently ranked No.41 in Kentucky's 2014 class, to take over the duties as the ace of the Laker’s staff this spring.
