Unsigned Senior Spotlights

A look at five unsigned seniors that are having very productive senior season.

Sky-lar Culver, INF/OF Mountain Home HS
Culver is a 6-foot-3 205-pound, with a large frame and an athletic build. He is a good athlete that plays multiple positions. As a junior he hit .300 with 2 HR’s and 21 RBI’s. He is having a better senior season hitting .358 with 15 RBIs through 9 games.

Zachary Muldoon, C, Lake Hamilton HS
Muldoon is a 6-foot, 195-pound catcher, that blocks and receives well. His pop times ranged from 2.12-2.24, putting balls consistently on the bag. His arm strength is adequate, his time is hindered by the length of his release with an elongated arm circle. He moves fluidly around the plate out of a wide stance and a low base. Offensively, he had an exit velocity up to 86 mph during our testing. He starts with an athletic stance, and has a smooth load and a short stride. The lower half is sufficient, but it could be more explosive, as he has good balance. Muldoon keeps his hands inside the ball well and has average bat speed. This season he is hitting .421 with 7 RBI’s.

Tyler Allen, RHP, Sheridan HS
Allen is a 6-foot-5, 220 pound right- hander, which definitely passes the eye test. He works from a high ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action.  Tyler pounded the bottom half of the strike zone with a fastball 81-84 mph. His fastball was heavy with late sink. He uses two different breaking balls a slider that he threw 71-73 mph with gradual break. His curveball had good 12/6 action that he threw 67-69 mph. He also threw a change up with good arm speed, arm side run and sink. The change up was thrown 73-75 mph. Allen senior season has been impressive, pitching 41 innings with an ERA of 2.01. He has struck out 36 while only walking 14,

Hayden Lindsey, INF/OF, Lakeside HS
Lindsey is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound utility player with a medium frame and an athletic build, He is a gap to gap hitter with the ability to hit the ball the other way. Defensively he is a good athlete with the aptitude to play multiple positions. He has an average arm that is accurate with carry. This season he is hitting .302 with 13 RBIs, while stealing 8 bags, and his on base percentage is .439

J.P. Aiken, OF, Woodlawn HS
Aiken is a 6-foot-3 190-pound outfielder, with a large frame and an athletic build. He is makes good reads on balls of the bat and possesses a strong loose arm from the outfield. He can produce exit velocities up to 89 mph offensively. His swing is a rotational but he finds barrel on a consistent bases and has shown a knack for driving in runs. This year he is hitting .585 with, 2 home runs, 7 doubles and 33 RBIs. In his 53 at bats he has only struck out 6 times and walked 9.
