Unsigned Senior Spotlights

A look at some unsigned seniors that have had a good start to their senior campaign.

Ku’Ron Summons, OF, Maumelle HS
Summons is a 5-foot-7, 160 pound OF with an athletic frame and a muscular build. He is a premium athlete that runs a 6.76 in the 60. Defensively he has good instincts with an average accurate arm. Offensively he has a short compact swing with a slight uphill bat path. He is hitting .333 this spring with 2 triples, 10 runs scored, and 5 RBIs.

Jake Bever, C, Camden Fairview HS
The 6-foot 200 pound catcher, has a solid frame and is has a strong upper body. He is an average athlete running a 7.38 in the 60. Bever is a strong armed catcher. He threw pop times ranging from 2.07-2.38. His arm is accurate with carry. His pop times will improve if he will clean up his foot work. He stands up instead of gaining ground toward second on his exchange. He received the ball deep and worked hard to block balls. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, from there he goes into a short stride with a short line drive swing. Bever maintains balance through his swing. Overall he has good bat speed registering 87 mph on our exit velocity testing. He stayed to the pull side during batting practice, attacking every pitch.  He is hitting .460 with 6 doubles, 14 RBI’s. He has walked 8 times with only 3 strike outs. Defensively he has thrown out 100% of runners attempting to steal.

Taylor Stitt, RHP, Woodlawn HS
Stitt is 6-foot-4 200-pound right handed pitcher with large frame that has projects to improve with maturity. He works from a High ¾ arm slot with average arm speed and a clean action. Stitt maintains good rhythm and balance through his delivery. He would benefit from incorporating his lower half and getting extension to the plate. He pitches off his fastball 80-82 mph with slight arm-side run. He compliments his fastball with a change up and curveball that he commands in the strike zone. He is having a good senior year pitching 33 innings with 27 strike outs and 8 walks, with an ERA of 2.33. His record is 3-1.

Tyler Hamilton, RHP, Benton Harmony Grove HS
Hamilton is a 6-foot, 170-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and an average build. He works from a ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. He repeats his mechanics and has rushed rhythm. He pitches off his fastball 79-81 mph that he can locate on both sides of the plate. He showed advanced pitchability locating his curveball and changeup for strikes in all counts.  Overall he is a quality pitcher that needs to develop physically. This year he is 2-0 with 24.3 innings pitches, his ERA is .863 with 30 strike outs and 10 walks.

Clayton Douglas, OF, Hamburg HS
Douglas is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound is a left-handed hitting OF with an athletic frame and athletic build. He is off to a hot start this year hitting .515 with 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs. Douglas is a good athlete that runs a 6.7 in the 60. Defensively he has good instincts, his arm is accurate with carry. Offensively he possess fast bat speed and maintains balance through extension.
