Unsinged Seniors: Middle Infielders

Here is a look at 5 unsigned senior middle infielders, that attended our Unsigned Senior Games on August 29th at Hendrix College.

Cole Muckleroy,  MIF/OF, Star City HS
Muckleroy is a 5-foot-11 160-pound, athlete with an athletic frame and build. During the workout he showed the ability to play both infield and outfield. He threw the ball 83 mph from the outfield and 76 mph across the infield. His arm was accurate from both position. On the infield he plays through the ball with a fluid footwork and a quick exchange. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed producing exit velocity up to 84 mph. He has a short line drive swing and maintains balance through extension. Overall, Muckleroy is a versatile player with solid athleticism, he needs to add strength if he is going to compete at the collegiate level right away.

Joe Myers, MIF, Catholic HS
Myers is a 6-foot-2 175-pound middle infielder with a large frame and an athletic build. He is an advanced feel for the barrel and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed that produces exit velocity up to 89 mph. He ran a 6.98 in the 60. Defensively he works through the ball with choppy foot work and soft hands. He has a fluid exchange and an accurate arm. Overall Myers is a well rounded player with fast bat speed.  

Rustin Hays, MIF, Hector HS
Hays is a 6-foot-3 180-pound switch-hitting infielder with a large frame and an athletic build. He is a strong offensive player. He starts from an athletic stance with a smooth load. He attacks the baseball with average bat speed and a slight uphill bat path. He maintains rhythm and balance throughout his swing. Offensively he has soft hands and a smooth transition and an arm that produces 80 mph from short stop. Overall Hays is a solid player that will transition to a corner infield position as he advances to the collegiate level. He is offensive enough to be a solid collegiate player.

Harrison Rutledge, MIF, Maumelle HS
Rutledge is a 6-foot, 165 pound MIF/OF with a medium frame and a thin build. He flashed solid athleticism during the defensive evaluation with fluid footwork as he played through the baseball with raw actions. He has a quick exchange and velocity up to 79 mph. Offensively, he produced exit velocities up to 83 mph. He would benefit for cleaning up some timing issues with a disconnected lower half. He showed a good feel for the barrel squaring balls up with pure athleticism. He did a good job staying balanced throughout his wing. Overall Rutledge is a good athlete with raw tools, as he continues to refine his tools and add strength he will be a solid collegiate player.

Gip Burrows INF Lake Hamilton HS,
 Burrows is a 5-foot-9 160-pound infielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He showed the best actions during out infield evaluation portion of the day. He played through the baseball with soft hands, fluid footwork, his quick exchange and an accurate arm. His velocity across the infield was 73 mph. Offensively he has a compact line drive swing that allowed him to hit the ball to all fields. He starts from athletic stance, with a smooth load and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed at 85 mph. He would benefit from adding strength but overall a solid player with good actions. Overall he is a plus defender with a solid swing, with a plus motor and instincts.
