The case for number one in the Texas 2022 class is sure to be challenged over the next two years, but for the time being, C Rylan Galvan (Sinton) has a vice grip on the top spot. Texas recruit, with a plus arm behind the plate and projectable power from the right side.

Shifting into the No. 2 spot is SS Anthony Silva (Clark) put on a show at the PBR Future Games, and later committed to Texas Christian. A gifted defender with natural instincts for the position, Silva looks the part of a future shortstop at the next level and beyond, and his athletic, 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame should continue filling out in the future.

Climbing to No. 3 after a huge early spring, 3B Jayson Jones (Braswell HS, TX) looks the part of a future middle-of-the-order bat with major power potential from the right side. Gaining momentum through impact while getting on plane early with impressive rotational acceleration, Jones is sure to be at the top of nearly every recruiting coordinator’s list this summer

Flowing closely at No. 4 is 3B Cade Climie (Seven Lakes HS, TX), a Texas A&M recruit, who covers the plate from the right side with strength to all fields, and a chance to stick on the left side of the diamond.

RHP Cade Sharp (Rockwall-Heath HS, TX), a Texas Tech recruit, exploded with a big (shortened) spring, and emerges as the 5th overall player in the state. Up to 92 mph with a clean arm stroke that releases with quickness out front, Sharp’s ability to manage a game, and paint the corners with the fastball stand out at a young age. At 6-foot-2, 198-pounds, he still shows signs of tacking on considerable strength, and the velocity is likely to climb even higher in the near future.

Jumping to No. 6 and equally impressive on the gridiron where he is QB1, SS Conner Weigman (Bridgeland) might have the chance to play both at the next level given his ability to swing the bat. A stoic 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, the uncommitted infielder looked noticeably stronger to start the spring, and his right-handed stroke was aided with a boost of power. With more repetitions and at-bats on the diamond, look for Weigman to make quick adjustments in the future, and be followed closely by college recruiters from both sports.

* Cade Sharp

* Conner Weigman

A group of highly talented left-handers take up the seven, eight, and nine spots, staring with LHP JD Thompson (Rusk) at No. 7. The southpaw features a polished delivery that allows him to find a consistent, high ¾ slot, producing strikes with the fastball to both. There is still more velocity likely on the way for Thompson, and as his breaking ball continues to get better, he has a strong chance of sticking as a starter at the next level. Following closely behind at No. 8 is LSU recruit Griffin Herring (Southlake Carroll), put on a strong couple of early outings this spring. Has the makings of a wipeout slider along with a fastball that will settle quickly into the low 90’s. LHP Trenton Shaw (DeSoto) comes in at No. 9 with a chance to make some big jumps in the next couple of years.

* JD Thompson

*Griffin Herring

Rounding out the top ten at No. 10 is SS Jett Williams (Rockwall) the Texas A&M recruit put on a show at the North Texas Underclass Trials last year, where he showed off his pure athleticism running the 60 yard dash aggressively at 6.87. From the infield, he is comfortable and mechanically sound as he exhibits good footwork taking him through the ball and leveraging his body well through the throw. A likely mainstay at the top of the class.
