Updated Wisconsin Power 25 Team Rankings

The Power 25 has yet to see any changes in Wisconsin as mother nature has thrown a serious wrench in the schedules of nearly every team across the state. However, all but two of our Power 25 teams have gotten at least one game in and a couple as many as five.

This week again will be dependent on weather, so teams will need to be flexible in order to fit in scheduled games and make-ups. Next week’s update hopes to add some bubble teams and new additions to the Power 25.

BIG 8 IMPLICATIONS

A few significant matchups have already pitted members of the top 25 against one another. Our preseason No. 1 Sun Prairie split a pair of games with preseason No. 14 Middleton. Middleton won the first of the two-game series, which propelled them from No. 14 to No. 12 in the rankings. The Cardinals do come with two blemishes on their record, one from the split with Sun Prairie and another early season loss to a Pennsylvania team during their Florida trip.

The preseason No. 1 dropping a game early made an impact on the rest of the top three. Janesville Craig (4-0) and Kimberly (2-0) both leapfrog Sun Prairie to become the new No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Because Sun Prairie quickly avenged their loss to Middletown to split the series they don't fall far, taking over the No. 3 spot.

Fox river region's BUSY START

Oshkosh West already has two Power 25 games under their belt as they lost Appleton North, but beat preseason No. 5 Green Bay Preble earlier in the year.

Appleton North leaped Oshkosh West with a win over their Fox Valley Association foe, the Lightning’s only game of the year so far. Appleton North moves up to No. 18 while Oshkosh North still maintains a positive trend thanks to a big win over Green Bay Preble, moving them to No. 19.

Preble fell from preseason No. 5 to No. 9 as they are 1-1 on the year with the loss to Oshkosh West. Preble bounced back with a no-hitter from sophomore LHP Ryan Stefiuk.

EARLY SEASON STRUGGLES

Burlington, Waupun, Webster, Beloit Turner and Tomah also all took early season losses and saw minor drops in the Power 25.
