Week 2 of our Small School rankings will also be the final week of action for the Division III private schools. The VISAA State Tournament is this week with the quarterfinals beginning on Tuesday and the Championship on Saturday. Look for our preview on Tuesday as we will go into more detail about what to expect from the tournament as well as our predictions with the burning question being, will Southampton make it four years in a row or can another team take the VISAA III Championship this spring.

In the rankings this week, we have a new No. 1 as Auburn moves up to the top spot with a strong week. Also with a big move to No. 2 is Virginia, with the Bearcats picking up big wins over Tazewell and John Battle this week to go with an earlier win over a stacked 3A Abingdon team.

Chatham slides down to No. 3 after suffering its first and second losses of the spring last week, dropping games to Tunstall and Dan River. Also sliding back a few spots to No. 4 is Walsingham Academy, which was given the top seed in the VISAA III tournament.

New to the rankings this week is No. 7 Goochland, which picked up a big win over Randolph-Henry last week and moved to 12-2 on the spring. Also entering the rankings at No. 8 is Page County and at No. 10 is Dan River, which handed Chatham its first loss of 2018 and also holds a pair of wins over George Washington this spring.

Enough talk, lets look at the Small School 10 of May 14.
