TJ Hunt
Director, PBR New Jersey

With additional news coming out on Thursday April 16th regarding the state's ruling on school closures, there has been even more speculation about starting the spring sports season in New Jersey. The governor has issued an Executive Order maintaining that schools will be closed until at least May 15th, and will reevaluate in due time. The NJSIAA stated that because of this new ruling, the spring sports season could start as early as May 25th. From what we know from last week, the NJSIAA stated that it would extend the high school spring sports season until a drop-dead date of June 30th, unprecedented ruling in unprecedented times.

With all of this said, we wanted to get the opinions from some high school coaches. Steve and TJ brought on two of the most successful coaches in NJ HS Baseball allure - Millburn HC Brian Chapman and Delsea HC Joe Smith. The group discusses what each coach is doing to keep the camaraderie alive within their teams, staying busy, and their thoughts on how the abbreviated season could roll out. We also get down the rabbit hole of how this abbreviated 4-week season could extend into vital recruiting time for underclassmen in the summer and how high school coaches this year can serve as an even more vital part of the development and recruitment of their players in the summer.

A lot to digest and always fun bringing these two guys on to chat. Check it out below:
