Week End Round Up: Mid America Tournament NWA

The Mid-America Tournaments Super 16 Tournament concluded Sunday afternoon. The Tournament featured some of the top prospects in the region.

2017 Casey Martin impressed as the top prospect in the event. The 5-foot-9 175-pound middle infielder showed well at short stop playing through the baseball with smooth actions. He showed off a plus arm when needed, and a quick exchange. Offensively he hit the ball to all fields and showed doubles power to both gaps in the two games, I watched him play. He also showed a feel on the bases stealing two bags.

2018 Luke Johnson showed well in the 16U division. Johnson is a 6-foot-2 180-pound left-handed outfielder, which showed an advanced feel for the barrel. His most impressive swing of the week end was a home run that helped propel Perfect Timing Red 16U to a win.

2017 Caleb Kimbrel had a solid week end at the plate. He showed a balanced approach recording two hits to the opposite field including a 2 RBI double down the left field line, which was instrumental in his team’s 9-4 victory over American Baseball Club.

2020 Cayden Wallace continues his tear onto the scene. He recorded three homeruns over his team’s four games. Wallace is a physical player with elite bat speed and an advanced feel for the barrel.

2018 RHP Connor Noland was impressive locating his fastball on both sides of the plate. He pitched 86-88 mph with late arm side run. He also showed command of an 11/5 curveball with sharp break thrown 74-77. He took a hard luck lose falling 3-2 Building Champions Grey, allowing zero earned runs.

2017 RHP Ross Carver continued to back up the hype that is building around him. He showed off his quick arm, locating his fast ball 87-89 mph, touching 90 on three occasions in his four innings of work. Carver is a 6-foot 165-pound right-hander who plays for the Arkansas Prospects. His located a slider at 71-73 mph.
