April 6/7 Weekend Games Roundup

#1 New Albany 2 Seymour 0 - Josh Rogers threw a complete game one hit shutout to get the win. Jordan Striegel hit a homerun

#2 Lake Central 10 Highland 0 -
Antonio Majstorov threw a five inning two hit shutout to help Lake Central finish undefeated in the NWI wooden bat tournament. Chase Fieldhouse led LC with three RBI and two doubles. Zach Mantel and Adam Fulk both had two hits.

#3 Elkhart Central 21 Tippecanoe Valley 0 – Kaleb DeFreese had a big day at the plate going 4-5 with a double, triple, two RBI, and four runs scored. Jack Bernacchi also had a big day going 2-2 with a double, triple, four RBI, and two runs scored. Riley Futterknecht had two hits, two RBI, and two runs. Adam Raifsnider drove in three and scored three times.  

#3 Elkhart Central 13 Tippecanoe Valley 0 – Riley Futterknecht got the win allowing just two hits and striking out nine in four innings of work. Cory Malcolm was 2-4 at the plate with a double and four RBI. Devin Prader was also 2-4 with two RBI. Casey Ianigro and Matt Eppers were both 2-3, Ianigro drove in two and Eppers drove in one.

#4 Zionsville 11 Center Grove 0 – Parker Dunshee picked up the win for Zionsville.  Nick Barrientos led Zionsville’s offense going 3-3.


#4 Zionsville 14 West Vigo 2 - Mic Richey picked up the win to give Zionsville the Trojan Classic Championship. Ben Kocher was 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI.

#5 Carroll 11 Churubusco 1

#5 Carroll 3 #21 Fishers 0 – Peyton Lengacher got the win allowing just one hit in seven innings and striking out nine. Ross Koble doubled and drove in all three of Carroll’s runs.

#21 Fishers 5 #5 Carroll 4 – Justin Rhodes picked up the win going six innings and allowing just two earned runs. Drew Clark and Garrett Schlotter both had two hits and scored in the game, Clark also drove in a run.

#8 Cathedral 7 Franklin 1 - Nick McCarty tossed five innings on Saturday striking out 11 Grizzly Cubs along the way to a 7-1 victory in the opening game of a weekend doubleheader. McCarty was consistently 84-86 touching 89 on a few occasions. At the plate Matt Dauby (Virginia Tech) went 3-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs. McCarty, hitting third for the Irish, was 2-3 with a double and two RB. Franklin's Mason Clark was 2-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

#8 Cathedral 3 Franklin 1 – Ashe Russell got the win for Cathedral and Austin Sparks was 2-3 at the plate in the win.

#11 Huntington North 12 Carmel 1 – Braydin Stell got the win allowing just one run on five hits in five innings of work. Caleb Richison had a big day at the plate going 2-3 with a homerun and six RBI. Kendall Whitman and Mitch Trieglaff both were 2-2 with a double and two runs scored, Trieglaff also drove in two runs.

#11 Huntington North 6 Southport 3 – Evan Brown got the win going six innings allowing six hits and striking out four. Mitch Trieglaff and Ethan Bartrom both had two hits in the game, Bartrom scored twice. Cody Frazier doubled and drove in two runs.

#19 New Castle 4 Wapahani 2 – Michael Bear got the win going all seven innings allowing four hits, one earned run, and striking out 11. Trey Ball and Adam Kranda both were 2-3 with a double and a run scored.

#19 New Castle 6 Wapahani 1 – Trey Ball got the win going all seven innings allowing three hits and striking out 12. Adam Kranda was 2-2 with two RBI and a run scored.  

#25 Portage 12 Hanover Central 9

Columbus North 13 Jennings County 7 - Senior Parker Shelton went five innings to pick up the win.  Hunter McIntosh, Preston Shelton, and Freshman Devin Mann led the way at the plate for the Bulldogs. 


Columbus North 11 Jennings County 2 - Sophomore Dylan Cowan went the distance allowing 3 hits to pick up his 1st Varsity win. Hunter McIntosh and Devin Mann again paced the Columbus North attack that pounded out 26 hits on the day. Columbus North is 3-0 to start the year.

Perry Meridian 4 Hamilton Southeastern 3 – Tackett picked up the win going 4.1 innings not allowing a hit and striking out four. House and Ball both had two hits, House drove in two and Ball drove in one for Perry. Wes Edrington drove in three runs and Tre Gantt had two hits for HSE.

Hamilton Southeastern 12 Farmington (MI) 2 – Mitch Roman, Justin Striebel, and Chris Irwin all had three hits in the game. Roman drove in three runs and Irwin drove in two. Tre Gantt also had two RBI in the game.

Hamilton Southeastern 6 Northview 5 – Tre Gantt, Mitch Roman, and Mitch Hansen all had two hits and drove in a run. Roman’s hits were both for extra bases, a double and a triple. Joel Naab drove in three runs. Peters homered and drove in three runs for Northview.

Lafayette Harrison 7 Crawfordsville 5 – Five different players drove in a run for Harrison in the win. Nick Lueck led the way with two RBI. Michael Carnahan picked up the win allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out nine. Craig Brainard had two hits and three RBI for Crawfordsville.

Lafayette Jefferson 9 Crawfordsville 8 – Keaton Hamilton and Austin Albrecht both had two hits and scored for Jeff, Hamilton drove in three runs and Albrecht drove in one. Peter Ripke had a hit and scored four times and Reid Pittard drove in two runs. Jordan Jackson was 3-4 with four RBI for Crawfordsville.

West Lafayette 11 Terre Haute North 9 – Brian Ghiselli picked up the win allowed just one earned run in five innings and striking out seven. Nick Moody, Parker Rhoads, Thomas Fisher, and Brody Forbes each drove in two runs. Tony Rosselli homered and drove in five for TH North.

West Lafayette 7 Crawfordsville 0 – Brandon Cebulla picked up the win going all seven innings allowing just four hits and striking out two. Brian Bangs was 3-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI.

Chesterton 4 West Lafayette 3 – West Lafayette took a two run lead in the 7th after a sac fly from Parker Rhoads plated a run and a Brian Bangs singled scored another. Chesterton got a run off an error and the tied it with a single from KJ Zelenika. Chesterton won it in the bottom of the 8th Nathan Crownover beat a throw to the plate.

St. Joes 9 Westview 4 – Dennis Jordan picked up the win for St. Joes. After Westview put up two runs in the top of the first AJ Montoya responded with a grand slam in the bottom half to put St. Joes in the lead for good. Damon Miller and Tarrin Beachy both doubled for Westview.

Mishawaka 6 Niles (MI) 0 – Trey Bickel got the win going five innings and striking out 13. David Coppens threw the last two striking out three. Bickel and Coppens held Niles to just four hits in the game. Dillon Papa led the offense going 3-3 at the plate.

Mishawaka 3 St. Joes 2 - With back-to-back triples in the bottom of the 6th by Trey Bickel and Danny Eggleston, Lucas Carrico scored Eggleston on a squeeze play for the go ahead run. Jordan Gard earned his second win by striking out 12 batters.

Greensburg 11 South Ripley 1 - Luke Kane gets the win going all five innings. Tressler and  Austin Schultz each had a HR.

Evansville North 6 Castle 1 - Junior Ryan Dills scattered six hits and struck out four in complete game to improve Evansville North to 3-0.

Northfield 10 Austin 4 – Andy Roser had three hits in the game, including a double, and drove in four runs. Adam Roser had two hits, drove in two runs, and scored twice. Tanner Chamberlain and Collin Dawes both threw three innings, Chamberlain struck out seven and Dawes picked up the win striking out five.

Columbus East 8 Madison 7 – Brian Wichman led the way offensively going 3-5 with a triple, four RBI, and a run scored. Cody Edwards also had three hits and Dakota Glenn and Kellen Otto each had two, Otto also drove in a run.

Cardinal Ritter 5 Bishop Chatard 4 F/8 - Hayden Cleveland picked up the win for Ritter; Jake Hagan led the way offensively going 2-3 with a double and a RBI

– Hamather picked up the win for CC.

Scecina 12 Covenant Christian 3 – Angeles picked up the win to get the split for Scecina.

Northview 7 Perry Meridian 3 – Brendan Dudas led the way offensively for Northview going 2-4 with a double in the win.

Perry Meridian 10 Farmington (MI) 6
- Notable: Cody House got the win for Perry Striking out seven. Jordan Tackett led the way offensively going 3-4 with three RBI.

Triton Central 9 Northeastern 4 – David Chapmen got the win for Triton Central striking out nine batters in the game.

New Palestine 3 Mt. Vernon 1 – Brian Page picked up the win for New Pal striking out nine. Connor Swain was 2-3 at the plate and had the game winning RBI.

New Palestine 1 Mt. Vernon 0 – Reid Clark picked up the win also striking out nine in game two. Nick Ulrey got the game winning hit this game with a triple.

Muncie Central 10 Blackford 4 - Senior Michael Harrold led the way on the mound for the Bearcats (2-3), pitching six strong innings while giving up no earned runs and striking out 10 Blackford batters. On offense, Central had 14 hits, led by freshman Jordan Poore, who went 4-for-5 with a double and his first career home run. Five other Bearcats had multiple-hit efforts at the dish, including Blake Bullock (who had two doubles), Mawhorr (who hit his second home run of the tournament), Harrold (who hit a triple and a home run), Robertson and Brannon Muncey.

Shenandoah 9 Eastern Hancock 1 – John Fritz picked up the win going six innings and striking out five. Fritz also had two hits and a RBI at the plate. Johnny Slivka and Caleb Laurie both had two hits and a RBI. Evan Fout was 3-3 for Eastern.

Eastern Hancock 9 Shenandoah 5 – Cody Wallace led Eastern’s offense going 3-4 with a homerun, three RBI, and two runs scored. Justin Dunlavy was 2-3 at the plate with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Evan Fout was also 2-3 with two RBI.

Hamilton Heights 13 Lebanon 3 – Logan Cunningham was 3-4 with three triples, three runs, and a RBI. Jack picked was also 3-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Tyler Anderson picked up the win on the mound going all six innings not allowing an earned run, striking out 11, and giving up just two hits.

Hamilton Heights 10 Lebanon 2 – Tyler Anderson was 4-4 at the plate with a double and a RBI. Ethan Engelhardt was 3-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored. Spencer Dull picked up the win throwing six innings allowing just three hits and striking out eight. He also doubled and drove in two runs.

Park Tudor 8 Warren County (TN) 1 – Calvin Smith had a good day at the plate going 4-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Chris Eckersley finished 2-4 at the plate with a double, three RBI, and a run scored. Kevin Rex and Tate Latinovich both drove in a run.

Benton Central 10 Rensselaer Central 0 – Devon Freeland had a big day on the mound and at the plate. On the mound he went all five innings to get the win allowing just one hit and striking out nine. At the plate he was 3-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored.

Delta 13 Yorktown 7 – Alec Taylor had a good day at the plate going 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Trey Bland also drove in three runs going 2-3 in the game with a double.

South Putnam 3 South Vermillion 0 – Seth Hammond picked up the win going all seven innings allowing four hits and striking out eight, he also drove in one of the runs. Rob Gibson and Justin Bumgardner both had two hits in the game.

Sullivan 10 Clay City 5 – Camdon Kuppler drove in three runs and Bryce Bement and Marcus Ridge both drove in two runs in the victory.

Turkey Run 13 Riverton Parke 0 – Schuyler Jeffers went all five to get the win allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Jeff Woods had a big day at the plate going 3-4 with a double, two triples, two RBI, and three runs scored.  

Charlestown 15 New Washington 4

Charlestown 12 New Washington 0 - Charlestown amassed 27 Runs on 26 hits to complete the sweep of host New Washington, improving the Pirates to 5-2 on the young season.  Picking up the win on the mound in game one was sophomore Darren Taylor, while freshman Drew Reich got the victory in game two going the distance for his first Varsity win and shutout.  Offensively, the Pirates were led on the day by senior Ryan Gorbandt.  Gorbandt finished the day 5-9, with a double, HR and six RBI. 

North Central (Farmersburg) 11 South Putnam 7 – Cole Johnson had three hits in the game with a RBI and a run scored. Nate Lyday, Nolan Kinnett, and Daniel Loveall each had two hits in the game. Kinnett drove in two and scored once. Seth Hammond was 2-4 with four RBI for South Putnam.

Lawrence Central 1 Rockford (MI) 0 – LC knocked off the top ranked team in Michigan. Scott Swingle got the win. Jaylen Quarles doubled and John Jones singled him in to get the one run win.

Angola 6 Northridge 5 F/10 – Skylar Parker got the win throwing the last five innings allowing no runs and just one hit. Chad Hammel was 2-3 at the plate with a homerun and two RBI.

Greencastle 11 Brown County 1 – Brett Gierke got the win going all six innings allowing just five hits and striking out three. Ryan Battin was 4-4 at the plate with a triple and two RBI. Andy Bell also drove in two runs and finished the game 3-3.

Rising Sun 3 Seton Catholic 2 F/9 – Miles Morris got the no decision going six innings allowing just three hits and striking out ten. Brandon Turner had three hits in the game and Greg Duvall had two hits and drove in a run.

Guerin Catholic 10 Frankton 0 – Adam Neidlinger got the win going all five innings allowing just one hit and striking out 12. He also had two hits and scored four times. Greg Sobecki and Adam Hufford both had two hits and drove in three runs.

Frontier 2 Tri-County 0 – Hunter Gladish got the win throwing a complete game giving up three hits and striking out 14. Brandon Gallinger drove in both runs for Frontier.
