Prep Baseball Report

Welcome to PBR Virgina/D.C.

Virginia We Got it Covered

With great pleasure, we bring to you Prep Baseball Report Virginia and Washington D.C. Our mission in Virginia/D.C. mirrors that of other state-specific coverage: to provide the most comprehensive in-state information, to promote high school baseball and, ultimately help Virginia/D.C. prep athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level. Our goal is to be the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in Virginia and Washington D.C.

Although it will take some time to achieve the status of our other 14 states, we are certain we have the right person to thoroughly, accurately and honestly cover Virginia/D.C.:

Sammy Serrano.

With his roots firmly entrenched in Virginia, Serrano has accumulated a decorated resume as a player, recruiter, evaluator and coach. As a standout catcher at Stetson University, where he led the Hatters to two NCAA Regional appearances, Serrano was drafted in the second round by the San Francisco Giants, the 68th overall taken in the 1998 draft. Serrano was tabbed a top prospect in the Giants organization before a shoulder injury forced him to retire in 2002.

Beginning in the summer of 2008, Serrano has worked with the 18U USA Baseball National Team as a catching instructor, evaluator, and coach.  In 2009 and 2011, he was a part of the USA Baseball Trials staff that led the 18U USA Baseball National Team to a Gold Medal in the Pan American Games. In 2012, he was a part of the trial staff that led the 18U USA National Team to a Gold Medal in the World Championships.   In the summer of 2011, 2012, and 2013 Serrano also coached in the Under Armour All-America Game that took place at Wrigley Field.

Serrano also served as the recruiting coordinator for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and also worked as an assistant coach at his alma mater Stetson for a year. Currently, Serrano just completed his third year as head baseball coach at Patriot HS in Nokesville, VA.

Now Serrano will bring his baseball experiences and expertise to Virginia/D.C.'s prep baseball scene. Serrano will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information Virginia/D.C. has ever seen and provide coverage to all corners of the state. But with so much talent in the state, he can't do it alone. Please email him at [email protected] with college commitments, relevant news, and top players in your area.

Virginia/D.C. events will begin in July. Prep Baseball Report events are designed to give players the maximum exposure needed to advance to the next level. Not only will players receive high-level exposure from college coaches, but all players at events will be videotaped, and the edited performance will be hosted online. All players' profiles, verified statistics and scouting reports can be searched in our expansive player database.

Our flagship state, Prep Baseball Report Illinois, was launched in 2005. Over the last 10 years, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into the authoritative voice of high school baseball in Illinois. More than 450 colleges and pro scouts now subscribe to the Prep Baseball Report multimedia services. In 2008, we took the same promotional model to Indiana, and have since expanded into Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Kentucky, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kansas, New York, Colorado, Tennessee, and Florida.
