West TN Prospect Games: Team White Corner Infielders

The West Tennessee Prospect Games took place on August 16 at USA Baseball Stadium and afforded close to 50 players from around the state to showcase their abilities in a combination showcase/game play event. The following is a look at the corner infielders who participated for Team White at the event. This is position player analysis only. Those position players who also pitched at the event will have their pitching performance featured in a subsequent article.

Roland Ryan, 2018, Knoxville West, 1B
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect posted a 7.84 60 time and had a 74 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Ryan has average hands, long arm action, some accuracy on throws, average arm strength, moves well around the first base bag. Offensively, Ryan has above average bat speed for age from the right side and had an 82 mph exit velocity off the tee. Ryan hits from an open setup and squares up with a short stride, uses his lower half, generates occasional lift with swing, gap to gap type hitter with power potential. Ryan went 1-for-4 during game play for the white team.

Chandler Causey, 2016, Collierville, 3B
The 5-foot-10, 203-pound prospect posted a 7.88 60 time and had a 72 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Causey has soft hands, short high-3/4 release with a quick exchange, some accuracy, current arm strength is below average for the third base position. Offensively, Causey has average bat speed from the right side and had an 82 mph exit velocity off the tee. Hits from an open setup, has a short stride, good overall balance, can get more consistent use of his lower half, flashes occasional gap to gap power. Causey went 0-for-4 during game play making contact in each at bat.

Tyler Flynn, 2018, Tipton Rosemark Academy, 1B
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect posted an 8.50 60 time and had a 75 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Flynn shows soft hands, long arm action, accuracy on throws, average arm strength, average footwork around the bag. Offensively Flynn shows average bat speed from the right side with a 73 mph exit velocity off the tee. Flynn hits from an open setup, has a short stride, gets lower half involved, line drive type hitter with a short swing path, . Flynn went 1-for-5 during game play.
