Western PA Fall Review Analysis: Class of 2017

The fall schedule of PBR events in Pennsylvania began this past weekend with the 2016 Western PA Fall Review at La Roche College. Over 30 prospects from two states gathered to showcase their abilities during the course of two nine-inning games and a showcase. Today we conclude our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at the prospects that participated from the Class of 2017.

Zack Blystone, SS/RHP, Derry Area HS
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Displayed a line drive approach with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph and ran a 7.00 60-yard dash. Showcased confidence in his glove hand and the ability to play the baseball on the move with accurate 76 mph arm strength across the diamond. Sat 73-74 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a compact, balanced delivery on the mound. Also displayed a 68 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation during three innings of work.

Doogie Cannon, RHP, Mars Area HS
6-foot-2, 145-pound right-hander sat 72-73 from an over-the-top arm slot during three innings of work. The lanky senior also commanded a 64 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation. Cannon showed good tempo and balance throughout his delivery. Plenty of room for additional strength on his frame and velocity gains moving forward.

Mike Crawford, LHP, West Allegheny HS
6-foot-1, 170-pound lefty allowed one run on two hits while striking out seven in three innings of game action. Sat 81-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot with fluid, easy delivery (down a few ticks from his 82-84 from earlier in the summ
