CHCA's Ted Andrews Talks Recruiting

Fresh off returning from a visit to Auburn University, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy’s Ted Andrews relayed the latest on his recruiting process.

Right now, the 31st ranked prospect in the Class of 2012 says, “I am considering Auburn, Furman, Harvard, and Stanford.”

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound right-handed pitcher is one of the top uncommitted players in Ohio.  Blessed with a fastball that registers 88-92 mph, Andrews is a big, projectable prospect. In addition to his fastball, the right-hander uses a 78-80 mph changeup and a 78-82 mph curveball.

As he discusses his potential college destinations, Andrews states, “I am looking for a combination of tremendous academics and great baseball.”

Although Andrews played for a small high school program, he doesn’t believe that the experience and setting hindered his development or exposure. “When you’re surrounded with some of the best coaches in the nation, they make sure you go to the right places and that the right people see you play,” he says.

This spring, Andrews compiled a 7-1 record with two no decisions. Over 45 and 2/3 innings, he struck out 53 batters and walked 19. He limited hitters to a 1.79 earned run average and achieve a WHIP of .884.

During the summer, Andrews played for Cary Daniel and the Cincinnati Baseball Club.

This fall, he will be on the pitching staff for the Midwest Redbirds.
