Happenings in Northwest Ohio



The Division II sectional pairings within the Archbold District played at Defiance High School have been postponed by rain for the third consecutive day. With the games on ice for yet another day, a pair of the state?s top teams and handful of top players will have to wait until Monday to see who will advance to District semifinal play.

Halted in the top of the third inning, Napoleon and Defiance will resume their game at 5 p.m. Wauseon and Bryan will kick off at 7 p.m.

Defiance enters the game ranked 7th in the state by the OHSBCA and feature Louisville commit junior""  Anthony Kidston (right), PBR?s 5th ranked 2012 player, and fellow RHP Eric Stapleton, a senior headed to Lincoln Trail Community College. With the extra day of rest, Napoleon may turn to senior RHP Art Warren who has signed with Cincinnati to finish the game.

On the other side of the Archbold District bracket, in a Sectional championship game of their own, the Wauseon-Bryan game will feature a top team and top player. Wauseon is currently ranked 8th in Division II and feature Ohio Dominican-bound RHP senior Austin Bueter. The prowess on the mound continues with Bryan as they trot out Ohio?s top senior in RHP Matt Wisler, the Ohio State recruit.

The winner of the Napoleon-Defiance meeting will be the home team in facing Toledo Central Catholic May 19th at Archbold High School at 4:30 p.m. That game would be followed by the winner of Wauseon-Bryan, who will be the away team in a matchup against Maumee at 7 p.m.
