Undefeated Troy-Triad (9-0) scored seven runs in the first inning and added four more in the second, and went on to stun No. 2 Chatham Glenwood 12-6 at South Park in Chatham. Knight junior Ty Lewis led the Triad onslaught with a 3-for-3 day with three RBI. Junior A.J. Wise added three ribbies. Sophomore Cody Massey had three hits, including a pair of doubles and an RBI. Senior Rich Dimock chipped in with two doubles and an RBI.

No. 1 Providence (8-0) outslugged the defending Class 4A Champs from Naperville  Central 9-7 behind University of Indiana-bound 1B Collin McEnery. The future Hoosier slugger had a perfect 4-for-4 afternoon with three RBIs to lead the Celtics past the Redhawks (4-4).

No. 7 St. Rita (9-1)  blasted Brooks 12-0 in a five-inning affair. Juniors 3B Stefano Belmonte and Mike Zunica led the Mustang attack. Belmonte homered with a man on and Zunica doubled home two Mustang runs in the rout.

No. 13 Stevenson (6-0) blanked Fremd 11-0 in five innings behind a three-hit shutout from junior RHP Zach Gordon (1-0). Harvard-bound 3B Mike Martin had three doubles and two RBI. Junior CF Max Golembo had a 3-for-3 with three ribbies to lead the Patriots.

In Fox Valley crossover action, Huntley (6-1; 2-0 Valley) blanked Grayslake North 12-0 in six innings behind junior RHP Justin Gundlach. Gundlach (2-0) fired a one-hitter with four Ks and had a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Red Raider sophomore Colin Lyman drove home three and Nick Corpolongo chipped in with three hits.

Cary-Grove (5-3; 2-0 Valley) defeated Johnsburg 14-1 in five innings, behind Ohio State-bound LHP Matt Panek. The future Buckeye fired three shutout innings, fanning five to pick up the win. Panek also drove home three Trojan runs as the Trojans kept pace with Huntley in the Valley.


In Mid-Illini action, Pekin (5-4; 2-0) slammed Limestone 8-1 behind a pair of two-run homers from Dragon Jared Pyatt and Beau Barnes.

In NCIC action, IVC (7-2; 2-0) nipped Peru St. Bede 1-0 behind an outstanding performance by Grey Ghost senior RHP Braden McIntyre. McIntyre fired a three-hit shutout and struck out 13 as IVC swept new NCIC member St. Bede.

Rock Falls (10-1; 2-0) routed Spring Valley Hall 13-3 in six innings behind junior
Brett Chappell and North Carolina State-bound Jake Junis. Chappell had three hits and a pair of RBI. Junis had a pair of hits and three RBI. For the week Chappell is 8-for-11 with 11 RBI; Junis has seven hits and 13 RBI.

In South Suburban crossover action, Tinley Park (10-2; 3-0 Blue) slipped past Eisenhower 3-1 behind a four-hitter by senior RHP Andy Sebastian. Sebastian had a 2-for-2 day including an  RBI single.

Oak Forest (4-2; 2-1 Blue) defeated Oak Lawn 7-4 behind junior 3B Kyle Linares. Linares had two hits and drove in three Bengal runs.

TF South (4-4; 2-0 Blue) blanked Reavis 2-0 behind senior Kevin Hallberg (2-0), who fired a five-hit shutout at the Rams. Reavis 5-5; 2-1 Red) will meet No. 9 St. Laurence (7-2) in the ?Battle of Burbank? at St. Laurence on Friday. The PBR?s Drake Skleba will be in Burbank as the PBR?s ?Rivalry Week? coverage continues.

In Southland Conference action, Rich Central (8-1; 2-0) swept past Crete-Monee 11-1 in five innings, behind a three-hit, four-RBI day, for Olympian senior 2B Matt Cole.

In Southwest Prairie action, No. 5 Plainfield North (8-0; 3-0) swept its three-game set with Oswego, 6-0, behind senior RHP Pat Cashman. Cashman fired a four-hit shutout with nine Ks to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Homewood-Flossmoor improved to 8-1 with a 5-1 Southwest Suburban crossover win over  Bradley-Bourbonnais. Viking senior Nico Kelly had three hits to lead the Vikes past the Boilermakers.

In another Southwest Suburban crossover Andrew (7-4) slipped past Joliet Central 2-1 behind juniors, 6-foot-3  Marcus Radz (2-0) and Tyler Hook. Radz allowed one run in his six innings of work and Hook picked up the save by shutting down the Steelmen in the seventh.

Lincoln-Way West (6-1) slipped past Sandburg 2-1 behind a four-hit gem by Warrior RHP Matt Bishop. Bishop struck out four and improved to 3-0 on the season. Red-hot Warrior Dan Fifer was 2-for-2 and Cody Vogler drove home a big run for the Warriors. On Wednesday, the PBR?s Drake Skleba will be in Tinley Park for the Warriors Southwest Suburban Red Division opener with Andrew.

Lincoln-Way North (6-2) rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh to stun Lockport 7-5 at historic Ed Flink Field in Lockport. Phoenix junior Jack Troike tied the game up with a two-run single and then Phoenix Dom Hartmann singled home two for the game-winners. Lockport  (5-3) was led by C Brenden Dunleavy led the Porters with two hits and an RBI.

In Southwestern Conference action No. 8 O?Fallon (10-1; 4-0) defeated Belleville West behind senior RHP  Sam Hopkins (4-0).  Hopkins fired a three-hitter to lead the Panthers over the Maroons. Seniors Austin Bossert, Casey Truitt and Rob Bohenstiehl had RBI for O?Fallon.

Edwardsville  (6-2; 3-1) blasted Granite City 9-1. Senior Zach Sedlacek led the Tigers with a pair of hits and ribbies. Junior Jevon Boyd (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers.

In Suburban Christian crossover action, defending Blue Division champ Marmion (7-3; 4-0 Blue) blanked Wheaton Academy 2-0 behind Cadet 6-foo-2 junior Chris Simon (1-1). Simon fired a two-hit shutout and struck out five Warrior hitters. The shutout was the third consecutive whitewash for the streaking Cadets. Junior Mitch Sterne doubled home the only run Simon would need.

Aurora Christian (8-2; 3-1 Gold) outslugged Walther Lutheran 10-7 behind a perfect 3-for-3 day by Eagle junior Kenny McCracken. McCracken went deep for the Eagles and drove in three runs. Senior Todd Klapp had two singles and an RBI and junior Jake Hanson chipped in with a pair of RBI. Senior Brent Minta improved to 2-0 on the mound and Hanson fired two scoreless innings to pick up the save for Minta.

Chicago Christian (10-3; 2-1 Blue) walloped Aurora Central Catholic 11-1 in five innings as senior 2B Ritchie Santarelli led the Knights with three hits and four RBI.
On Monday, the PBR?s Drake Skleba will be in Palos Heights for an early-season Blue Division showdown as the Cadets of Marmion meet  the Knights.

In Upstate 8  crossover action, No. 16 Steamwood (8-0; 2-0 River) slammed Waubonsie Valley 9-2. Judson College recruit RHP Blake Hunter scattered eight hits and fanned nine Warriors to improve to 2-0. Sabre senior Alex Morrow continued his torrid hitting with a three-RBI day at the plate. Future Villanova Wildcat Josh Harris had a pair of hits and two RBI for the unbeaten Sabres.

St. Charles North (6-3 ; 2-0 River) defeated Lake Park 4-2 behind University of Minnesota-bound Jake Bergren and senior Andrew Elliott. Both Bergren and Elliott drove home two North Star runs and North Star Josh Loynachan (1-0) fired five innings of one-hit ball to pick up his first win of 2011.

In West Suburban Silver crossover action, No. 21 York (8-0; 3-0 Silver) blew by Proviso East 14-4 in five innings. Duke seniors 3B Joey Grollo and 1B Joe Boozell led the Duke attack with two hits and two RBI each. 6-foot-3 senior RHP Mitch Baker (1-0) picked up the win on the mound.

Leyden (6-0; 3-0 Gold) remained undefeated with a 7-3 West Suburban crossover win against Glenbard West. Lewis University-bound Justin Stawychny hammered a grand-slam to pace head coach Gary Wolf?s undefeated Eagles.

Westminster Christian (5-4; 1-0) won its Northeast Athletic Conference opener 9-5 over Rockford Christian Life. Warrior junior LHP Zach Barfield (1-1) picked up the win on the mound. Warrior junior LF Dylan Scully, Senior 1B Ben Stevenson and Sophomore CF Will Woodhouse all drove in a pair of ribbies for the Warriors.

Marian Catholic (7-2) smoked Bremen 10-0 in a five-inning affair on Thursday. Junior Brett Lilek and senior Jeff Leppellere led the Spartans past Bremen (10-3). Lilek had three hits and three RBI and Leppellere chipped in with a pair of hits and three RBI.

In the ?Battle of Arlington Heights? at Hersey, St. Viator (4-3) scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Hersey 2-0. Lion second baseman Cole Luthringhausen had a clutch two-run single to give the Lions the win. St. Viator?s Robert Romano (1-1)  outdueled Hersey?s junior Trevor Haas (1-1) in a classic pitchers duel. Hersey falls to 4-3 on the season.

Morrison (11-2; 4-0) crushed Fulton 11-1 in a Three Rivers Conference game on Thursday. Mustang Corbin Blean had thee hits and drove in four runs as the Mustangs crushed the Steamers.
