7/02/20

At 6-foot-6, 240 pounds, Clark stood out not only for his large presence on the mound, but also for the deception produced by his superior extension to the plate. Ranging from 6-foot-9 to 7-feet of extension from a three-quarter slot, Clark pounded the zone with 86-88 mph sinking fastballs spinning in the 1600-1750 rpm range. He mixed in a near average curveball at 73-74 mph and an upper-70s changeup.

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-foot-6, 255-pounds. Large hulking build.
Delivery: Stretch only, directional down the mound, falls onto front side, creates tilt.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, slightly warped, 3/4 slot.
FB: T90, 87-90 mph. Heavy feel with sink, worked bottom of zone.
CB: 73-77 mph. Power breaking ball, slurve type action, 10/4 shape.

4/14/19

4/13/2019 Spring Scout Blog: Indiana commit. Big, 6-foot-6, 255 pound frame. Mid 3/4 slot, long loose arm action. Fastball was 87-88 early, settling in at 84-88. Fastball shows arm side run with some sink. Slider sat 72-75, makings of a good pitch at the next level. Clark was efficient, throwing 96 pitches in the seven innings, scattering four hits, striking out seven and walking two.

2/16/2019: Casper Clark, RHP/1B, Columbus North HS, 2020, 6 foot 6, 255 pounds, is a big bodied RHP that has made a nice velocity jump this past year. He throws from a mid ¾ slot and long loose arm action and sat 89-92 with some asr. Slider sat 73-76 and is more of a 2 plane bigger slurve at this point, but has makings of being a good pitch. CH showed impressive fade life and sat 78-80. Already committed to the University of Indiana, if Casper continues to develop at the rate he has this past year, should see some pro interest his senior year.

3/30/2018 Spring Scout Blog: Indiana commit. Big, strong righty is looking more and more like a pitcher. In his first outing of the season, Clark has introduced a wind-up to his delivery and does so with some levels of comfortability. Though he does fight his body at times, the rhythm is smooth with easy effort. Fastball showed both run and cut action with flashy bite early in the game. Pitch was 82-86 T86 in the first and settled in at 80-84 in the 4th. Slider was the better pitch on the day which displayed some wipe out stuff when thrown on the pocket to righties. Near FB arm speed from 70-76. The pitch will be challenging for any high school hitters when it is thrown with some esteem. At times Clark babies it and it becomes hittable. Has developed more at bat to at bat focus and increased pitchability since last spring. Would not be shocked to see a small velo jump by summer.

2017 Spring Scout Blog:  6-foot-4 210 pound solid righty pitched to a complete game, 5-inning Sectional Championship victory in his first outing of high school tournament action. Plays the game with a loose confidence on the field and in the dugout. Fastball was a tick higher from when we saw him last month sitting 79-84 and topping out at 85 early. A very easy delivery. Breaking ball still has room to develop and might be helped if thrown more firmly. Rhythm was better with more fluidity. Should be a pitcher to watch moving forward.

2017 Spring Scout Blog: 6-foot-4 210 pound sturdy RHP from the 2020 class. Works only out of the stretch with minimal use of the lower half. Will see plus velocity gains when developing sync between a clean upper half with strong but unused lower half. Rhythm can get rushed and choppy. Throws from the stretch with a low and quick leg lift even when bases empty. Quick arm is long and loose from a low 3/4 slot. Easy delivery. Lands square with athletic finish. Fastball had run action and was 79-83 T84 through the first three innings and 81-84 T85 in the fourth. Did get hit when elevated. Breaking ball had 11/5 shape with some life and 70-73. Could be a plus pitch if developed. Showed composure in tight situations. Final line: CG 7IP 7H 1BB 5K.
