Maryland Preseason All-State Session I
Body: 6’2’’, 200 pounds. Strong, physical frame with athleticism.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly open stance at the plate with a smooth, rhythmic back load and solid hand separation. Short, controlled stride and attacks the ball with intent with quick hands and bat speed through contact. Uphill swing path, creating really nice extension through and past contact with some lower half involvement. Stays behind the ball really well with a strong gap-to-gap approach with a one handed finish.
Power: 96 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Present pop to the pull side with projection for doubles power to both gaps.
Arm: RH. C - 75 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from an over the top slot.
Defense: Pop times ranged 1.97-2.04. Gets out of the crouch quick and gains ground on throws to the bag. Replaces feet really well with quick, clean exchanges and accurate throws that showed some carry.
Run: 7.36 60-yard time.
Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships
Walsh is 6-1 with a lankier frame that has projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short smooth load back, hips rotate completely and violently with good lower half balance. Short to ball, uphill swing path with a quick bat and good extension through contact. Showed a pull approach with doubles power to pull side already present and a chance to grow into more.
