Charlotte commit. Lanky, athletic frame at 6 foot 2, 170-pounds. Smooth delivery with the leg kick working just above the belt. Sits into his back leg at the balance point driving to the plate. In line to the plate with a square landing. Long, clean arm action, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Arm is quick with good extension out front. Strikes with the fastball sitting at 85-88 mph. Leaves it up when the upper body bails to the first base side. Feel for his changeup with sink at 76-77 mph. Breaking ball has depth at 71-72 mph. Inconsistent with it at times but did show the ability to land it in the zone. Control of the fastball and change with flashes of feel for his breaking ball that should be better as the year goes on.
Charlotte commit, making his declaration shortly after the Top Prospect Games. Lanky, athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Some strength present with plenty of room to continue to add to the frame. Fastball bumped 91 in his first inning, sitting 86-89 throughout the outing. Hard, riding action on the fastball, it jumped on hitters getting swing and miss in the zone and chase when elevated out of the zone. Smooth delivery with an average leg kick. Repeatable with a stable head and solid balance point. Aggressive stride with the arm on time and working to positions of strength. Excellent hip to shoulder separation. Long arm action gets to a high-3/4 slot with a very quick hand. On-line, finishes with good extension. Breaking ball had gradual 12/6 tilt at 72, with a slight hump out of the window. Change-up touched 80.
Lean, athletic build at 6-foot-2, 160 pounds. Room to continue to add strength. Shows feel for all three pitches with the slider presenting out-pitch potential. Fastball ranged 82-84, playing harder than the reading. Arm side run to the arm side. Pounded the down zone. Slider sat 69-70 with a sharp 10/7 action. Slurvish at time times with good hand speed. Change flashes arm side action at 74-77. Works from a high-3/4 slot with a quick arm. Long, loose arm swing, working to stay tall through balance. Smooth delivery, repeats, working level and in-line.
