Ward has a broad shouldered build at 6-foot 195-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.20-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 88 MPH. Offensively – starts in a wide, neutral stance with hands below back shoulder. Uses a small foot stride to start swing as hand load straight back. Short and quick to the ball with balance in follow through. Defensively – took reps at SS. Throws topped at 79 MPH with some armside run with a short, quick arm action from a high-3/4 slot. Able to throw from multiple slots with accuracy. Sound gloveword, with average footspeed when moving laterally at SS.
9/20/15 -- Ward is 5-foot-11, 175 pounds and has an athletic build. He hits from the right side with an athletic base and high hands. From there, he loads his weight and finds a consistent launch position. He shows bat speed and full extension. He's an aggressive swinger and finds the barrel often. He has good foot work and finds a consistent hand break point. He gets a little stiff when throwing but could be perceived to have more athleticism with lower half incorporation when throwing.
