Kowalczyk has a lean and athletic frame at 6-foot, 173-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.50 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 84 MPH. Starts at the plate in a wide and athletic stance with his feet even. Hands begin above shoulder height, away from his body. Creates pre-pitch rhythm. Lands on a slightly inverted toe in his stride. Hands move straight back during his load. Displayed a fluid and remained balanced throughout his swing. Defensively, took reps in the outfield and recorded a positional velo of 74 MPH. Stayed back on the ball, always played it under control. Used a small crow hop to get rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound, Kowalczyk starts tall with his feet together and facing home plate. Showed a long arm action and released from a high 3/4 arm slot. Is able to get over a strong brace leg and get downhill. Fastball was 78-79 MPH and reached 82 MPH. Curveball showed 11/5 shape in the zone at 67-69 MPH.
