6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic frame. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 8.07. Began in a balanced tall stance with a small load, then used a quick stride before his swing. Bat speed is average, uses flat swing plane and level finish. Line drive approach. the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 88 mph. From the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 76 mph; shows sure hands, athletic feet and a clean exchange. Used a high ¾ slot with a compact arm action. On the mound, had a high ¾ arm angle and a compact arm action. Used easy effort in his delivery. He has even shoulders and tall balance point. Displayed an athletic finish Produced a fastball that came in at 76-78 mph; has running action and arm side command. Shows sweeping action and glove side command on his 11/5 curveball (64-66).
Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box in wide athletic stance. Short simple load and quick path to the hitting zone. Displayed hard contact during batting practice. Exit velocity off the tee was 80 MPH. Defensively- the 1B, sits back on the baseball. Takes his time to gather himself when making a throw across the infield. Throws from a high ¾ slot with long arm action. As an OF, Kaplan displayed active footwork. Shows above average exchange and quick release on throws from the OF. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable balanced delivery. Kaplan worked with a three pix mix. FB peaked at 74 MPH, CB has tight early spin ranging from 62-65 MPH, and CH was 66-67 MPH. Kaplan has a projectable frame and will be a player to follow as he continues to develop.
