8-16-14 Pedone stands 6-foot-0 175-pounds with the frame to easily add 10-15 good pounds of muscle. From the Infield he moves towards to ball fielding it out in front with smooth hands and a quick clean transfer. He throws form a low/mid ¾ arm slot at 81 mph, gets his back side through his throws towards his target, with a short arm action. At the plate he sets up with his weight shifted on his back leg, back load, using a leg lift on the pitch. His bat path is on the incline through the strike zone, he really gets his back side through the ball with a powerful high finish. He shows power potential hitting a Home Run in batting practice with an exit velocity of 83 off a tee. He ran an impressive 4.03 home to first time.
7-2-14 Pedone stands 6-foot-0 175-pounds and has an athletic frame. With the bat he swings from the left side with a crouched setup. He uses a knee lift and stride before the swing. His bat path is slightly on the incline and has a nice high finish generating good extension with an 83 mph exit velocity off a tee. From the MIF he gets around the ball, glove out in front with his feet never stopping getting him in line for the throw. He uses clean transfer into a low 3/4 slot throw at 77 mph. He ran a 7.25 60 yard dash.
6-29-2018: At 6’1/190 pounds, Pedone has an athletic frame and above average agility. Light on his feet with smooth, average actions. Handles the SS position adequately but a slight pause in his arm action after hand break will probably move him off the position. Not enough pure arm strength for RF but LF/CF could both be options down the road. Speed is going to be Pedone’s calling card. Accelerates quickly with short, choppy strides. After 24 games; 26 stolen bases in 30 attempts. Just as likely to steal 3B as he is 2B. Puts constant pressure on the defense. Registered a 4.38 to 1B with a turn on a foul ball. No other opportunities to show off speed down the line. Big advantage that he’s able to hit from the left side. Understands his strengths and doesn’t try to do too much at the plate. Swing is rotational with minimal extension. Hands load back into a good hitting position and don’t commit to any offerings too early. Good barrel control. Stays balanced and athletic with his lower half. The contact skills and approach have been exceptional. Only six strikeouts in 87 at-bats to go with 19 walks. Below average power, doesn’t project to add much more. If the production stays consistent for the rest of the summer, Pedone should put himself on the map as a prospect with game-changing speed and advanced baseball instincts. (Dan Jurik)
