Danny Madden, 1B/OF, Corning HS, NY (2016)

7/7/15

Stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, with an athletic body build.  He has a smooth approach through the ball, with smooth, soft, quick hands, throws with a high 3/4 arm slot, throws with a cut off/recoil action, plays through the ball nicely and has accuracy on the target.  At first base looked good fielding through the ball and receiving throws from the position players with a plus arm across the diamond to third base.  At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, short stride, with a smooth load.  His hands are very compact and strong, swinging with long/full extension through the ball, with a high finish through the ball.  Danny is a first baseman/outfielder and powerful hitter who shows a lot of potential to progress to the next level in college.

2/15/15
Madden stands an impressive 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with a pitchers build. The southpaw uses sound mechanics that work with his body, shoulders rotate, knee cross over the rubber. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with a fastball sitting 85-86 mph, free and easy with late life. Madden needs to prove he can fill up the strike zone this spring, but right now his stock just soared through the roof. His off-speed is above average showing hand speed on his changeup, good late bit on a slurve. Keep your eye on Madden.

Danny Madden, 1B, Corning HS, NY (2016)

2/15/15

Madden stands an impressive 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with plus body-type. At first-base he moves well off the bag, highly athletic evidenced from his 7 flat 60 yard dash time. Shows a smooth glove and strong arm from the corner. He swings a big bat from the left side, up to 90 mph exit velocity, good extension out in front of the plate. Madden is a very good “dual-Threat” player both on the mound and at the plate.

8/16/14

Madden stands 6-foot-2 180-pounds with size and strength. On the mound uses good balance over the rubber bringing his knee lift back and rotates his shoulders. He has great extension throwing from a high ¾ slot with a fastball sitting 80-82 mph with more projectable velocity in his arm. He throws a circle changeup at 74 mph with good hand speed and a 71 mph curveball. His arm action is long and back towards the SS and his finish is strong over his front side.

1B/Hitting - Madden has a solidly built body frame with projection from the left side. He stays behind the baseball and fields in an athletic position towards the middle of his stance. He moves his feet towards his target, opens hips slightly early, clean arm action from a high ¾ slot with 80 mph arm strength. At the plate he starts upright, stance is slightly more than shoulder width apart, small back load and stride for timing, drives his hands at the ball, long swing with a bat path fairly level, extension after contact and a shoulder height finish.

7/1/15
Madden stands 6-foot-2 180-pounds and has a strong physical presence. On the mound he throws from a mid 3/4 slot with his fastball sitting 79-82 with more in the tank. His fastball has some late action and arm side fade. His changeup fades arm side as well but slows arm down some.
With the Bat his approach is balanced with a nice wide comfortable stance. There is no stride and he rolls on his front foot after contact but swings level through the zone with a nice shoulder level finish. Shows gap to gap power and had an 87 mph exit velocity off the tee.

Danny Madden, LHP, Corning HS, NY (2016)

7/7/15
Has an athletic build, lanky but strong frame to add weight to. Delivery is paced, a little stiffness, but arm action is very fluid and loose, little effort. Fastball jumps from his hand sitting 83-84, touching 85-87 mph, still feeling for the strike zone at times. Shows a curveball/slider that spins well late, 2/8 shape under righties hands. Needs to develop his changeup more but with work this winter could be a pitch for him. High-level athlete.
