July 2018

Lean athletic lefty with good command and control. Running fastball sitting 75-78 MPH peaking at 79 MPH. Slider has sharp break sitting 68-69 with consistency in the zone. Works quickly and holds runners on well. Talented prospect. At the plate he showed a balanced setup with a short, compact stroke. Two hits, a SAC fly and 2 RBI in their second game Saturday at Cortland.

Quick delivery to the plate, 3/4 arm slot, builds momentum with lower half, plethora of pitches.

CT Underclass Games (July 26, 2017)

5-foot-6, 170, thick, strong, can improve the frame with more conditioning. Nimble on his feet. Posted a 4.56 home to first time, but has quick reactions getting off the bag defensively at first base. Throws from a ¾ to low ¾ slot. Registered throws across from first base to third base at 75 mph. He has a nice glove at the position, soft hands. Made picks during infield drills and during game play. Offensively, he has a simple swing, with a gap-to-gap approach. There is minimal pre-pitch movement, with a slight step into the ball. His hands start up by his shoulders. Loose wrists generate bat speed, registered an exit velocity at 90 mph off the tee. The bat path is level-up, helping him to take advantage of his power. Collected a single during gameplay. Continued refinement in his plate discipline will help him put his power on display in game action more often. On the mound, he throws from a lower ¾ slot. The fastball was between 75-79 mph. There is some movement on the pitch, more so when he works the ball down in the zone. His curveball was 60-65 mph and has 12/6 shape. Big and bendy, Walker would do well to generate sharper break on the pitch. His changeup was his second best offering, showing good fade. Was able to generate swings-and-misses with the pitch against live batters. Continued development of the curveball will help him make the most of his three pitch mix. Overall, he has potential on both sides of the ball. With his offensive potential, he may profile best as a position player if he continues making strides on that end.

Home-First: 4.56

Exit Velocity: 90 MPH

Arm Velocity: 75 MPH

October 24, 2015
The LHP with and easy arm works from a low 3/4 slot. Above average movement as FB peaked at 71 MPH. Breaking ball backs up with some early action at 62-65 MPH. Showed a feel for his change at 64 MPH. Broad shouldered and thick legs with more in the tank.
Futures Showcase (February 28, 2015)
Walker stands a strong 5-foot-7, 170-pounds.  At the plate he starts wide and athletic.  Uses a soft toe tap, and counter rotation, for timing on the pitch.  Hands Start high.  Hips explode through the zone.  Level plane with lift through contact.    Leads with his knob, stays inside the baseball.  Good balance.  Should work on extension an finishing his swing.  On the mound his heels start over the rubber.  Uses a side step to a high leg lift, with good counter rotation.  Good balance, stays over the rubber.  Leads well with his hip. Uses glide to stride method.   Good mid-low 3/4 arm arm action,  Finishes out in front, good extension.  Some drag leaving the rubber.  Velocity was (71) but expect that to jump as he matures.  Looking forward to seeing him again.
