Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Kizis is a full frame 6-foot-2 252-pound right-handed first baseman who ran an 8.38 60. Offensively- Starts with feet shoulder width apart, hands in front of the body and back elbow high. Swings hard with intent, uses whole body. High two handed finish, favors pull side. Quick hands allows for consistent hard contact; drives the ball. 91 MPH exit velocity (up 4 MPH from the summer). Defensively- Fields the ball out in front, good transfer and delivers a strong throw. Feet a bit choppy. Could be more aggressive when fielding the ball. 65 MPH arm strength. Continued development with footwork around the bag and improving arm strength will boost his stock as his offensive game will play.
Campus Series- St. Bonaventure (July 11, 2017)
Kizis stands in at 6-foot-2, 252-pounds with a thick, strong, athletic frame. Ran a 5.18 home to first. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet wide outside his shoulders. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat in front of the body using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick step forward while his hands move slightly back into his hitting position. Quick hands to the hitting zone with a slight upward lift barrel action throughout into a high two-handed finish. Good lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in the swing. Demonstrated good plate coverage and the ability to hit line drives to all fields during batting practice rounds. Recorded an exit velocity of 87 MPH. Defensively- Good approach and footwork off the bag at first. Fielding mechanics are clean with good footwork towards intended target. Moves well off the bag and can make the play coming off. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 65 MPH. With increased foot speed and more strength development, could be a powerful collegiate prospect in the 2019 grad class.
