Evan Welp: OF/RHP, (2022) West Clermont, OH. 5-foot-10, 150-pound athletic frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. Starts in a balanced stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is average and exhibits a level swing plane. Athletic from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 79 mph; had a clean exchange, sure hands, and athletic choppy footwork. Fielded the ball one hand with athletic movement laterally.
2/22/20 Position Player
Hit: Simple easy stance with little usage out of the lower half. Stops swing about half way through limiting power.
Power: 76mph exit velo with a max distance of 220 feet.
Offensive Projection: Line drive hitter.
Field: Smooth solid footwork that transitions well into throwing.
Throw: 76mph outfield velo.
Defensive Projection: Corner outfield.
Delivery Notes: A lower half that leaps forward to the plate that could throw hitters off. A ¾ arm action that is fluid throughout.
Fastball: 70-73mph with a 1600-1800rpm spin rate.
Curveball: 65-66mph with 11-5 movement that toppled thru zone

HIt: Shows decent barrel control.
Power: 75 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: Shows some potential in his swing. How he develops athletically and adds strength will be the main determining factor in his long term offensive projection.
Field: Plays through the ball well and attacks the ball decently well. Shows average footwork with a slow release.
Throw: 67 mph from the outfield.
Run: 4.59 home to first.
Defensive Projection: Projects best as a corner OF guy at the next level.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Easy, fluid tempo to delivery as he rolls through his waist high leg lift into his drop and drive load. Does a nice job of sinking into front hip at foot strike, allowing for energy/direction down the hill. Arm is clean and on time. Movement patterns would suggest more velocity to come down the road.
Fastball: 70-73 mph. Mostly true through the zone with slight run/sink.
Curveball: 65-66 mph. 11/5 shaped gradually breaking curveball. Spins it well and shows decent feel for the offering.
Changeup: 64-68 mph. Above average pitch stuff wise, living below the barrel.
Pitchability: Above average for class. Showed feel for all three.
2/17/18
5-foot-7 and 125-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Works at a slower tempo with a drop and drive type delivery. Shows good direction through his stride working out of a low-3/4 slot. Only offered two pitches on this occasion. A sinking fastball that sat 64-67 MPH for strikes and a 60-62 MPH changeup that shows the same late sinking action as the fastball. Two-way prospect that swings it from the right side. Path is slightly downhill and the barrel gets in and out of the zone quickly. Showed some twitch to his hands, handling the low pitch well. Will use the whole field and has the bat speed to turn on the baseball. Should see easy increases in pop as physical maturation takes its course. In the outfield he uses aggressive footwork before slowing tempo a bit prior to fielding to ensure ball security. Plays one-handed through the baseball before transitioning quickly into his pro step. Arm and frame profile him in left or center depending on foot speed.
